Well, in my opinion, this is one of the most debated topics.
3 of the sickest games ive played are Manhunt,Portal 2 and Blood.
Manhunt has very good qualities graphics, and isnt so much 'spooky' , but lets you spook the **** out of other people. Sadly, no multiplayer. But how many games let you strangle someone with a plastic bag and bash the crap out of them ? Or ram a crowbar into someones head and jimmy out their brains ? Its 3rd person style (think Grand Theft Auto style).
Now, portal 2 is FPS. It isnt 'scary', but just disgusting and makes you LOL. Graphics are kinda sad, but still, good for a laugh. I mean, common, how many games let you taser people, urinate on them, douse them in gasoline and throw a match on them?
Or how bout ramming a cat onto the butt of your gun, then shooting the cat off?
Blood is old..VERY old. But it is a legend. Sawed off shotguns, napalms, TNT sticks, zombies, ghosts, and a FPS character with a bad attitude.
"Im gonna paint the town reeeeeed."
"Da-da-dat dats all folks!"
"heeeeeres johnny!"
Oh it gets worse.....much.....MUCH worse.....but i wont spoil it. See for yourself.

portal 2 ?
you mean postal 2!!!
i thought manhunt was rubbish....
-
the way you describe blood sounds a lot like duke nukem :p
-
UT with the Gibfight mutator. :D
-
Soldier of Fortune series for me. :nervous:
-
the classic games are the best, like blood, corridor 7, body count, duke nukem 3d, doom and eradicator.
then you got one game that surpasses that, quake 4...
-
the way you describe blood sounds a lot like duke nukem :p
Blood 1 used the Build engine (aka Duke). Had exploding walls, sloped floors/ceiling, kickable heads, rotating sectors, water and more.
Blood 2 used another engine (3d engine) i don't remember the name for.
Corridor 7 wasn't good LOL (ok for the first few minutes... then boring LOL)
-
ok then try explain away some old games like bio-menace? and jason storm? :P. this gave me a thought.
-
corridor 7 what the hell was going on with the psychedelic walls
-
Lemmings ;)
-
Forbidden Forest. Oh look the big dragonfly has just descended from the sky and chewed off my head.
-
Crimson Land. Just check out the screenshots at the site!!!

The scenario usually is green or yellow at first but that changes really fast :D
-
Soldier of Fortune II
-
Blood Suckers might be another candidate. It's an old Mac game where you have to swat hordes of flies, spiders and other crap as quickly as possible. The screen fills up with bug guts very quickly. :D
-
anyone remember the game krieg?
-
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
Send a pair of Dreadnoughts into a squad of Imperial guard soldiers or something, and see what happens. Or better yet, in the new Dark Crusade expansion, send some Grey Knights in and watch them impale everything and then make heads explode with psyker abilites.
-
Bloodiest game I've played personally is RE4, but I know that's not even close to the worst ever. Still, having your own head sliced off with a chainsaw is a rather unpleasant sight. :p
-
Soldier of Fortune
F.E.A.R. (people disintegrate and you can dismember them with grenade blasts)
Halo and Halo 2
-
Halo and Halo 2
Hell naw.
SoF
RE4
Gears of War
-
Halo and Halo 2
Hell naw.
Do you know how much blood comes outof a dead Elite when you bash it in Halo 1? :D
-
What's fun is playing SWJKJOII with realistic gore... it's nowhere near as bad as these are but its still pretty cool to lunge into a person, kill them, watch them die, and then watch the blood come out. You can dismember their dead bodies too! Just start slashing away and limbs are cut off, blood seeps out.
-
Oh, I just thought of another oldie but goodie: Die By The Sword. I only got the chance to play a demo, but being able to selectively lop off baddies' limbs and/or head was bloodily delicious. :D
-
i can't believe nobody's mentioned "rise of the triad" you could literally make it rain blood, eyeballs, and whatnot. ;)
-
Halo and Halo 2
Hell naw.

Well, it doesn't have aliens with "detachable limbs" so I agree with the Hell naw.

Maybe that'll be reality in Halo 3. :nervous:

i remember there was this really cool FPS medieval game...u could use bows with unique arrows (grenade arrows, fire arrows, poison arrows), swords, hammers, shields, everything...and the graphics were really, REALLY gorgeous and realistic. The game was only single player....but damn was it good. You could shoot an orc in the leg and he'd limp after you. Shoot a grenade arrow at an orc in the chest and he'd explode in a shower of blood. Slash off heads, legs and arms. Smash off a head with a massive warhammer.....
I wish i could remember the name of the game :sigh: :(
I think it came out in like '01 - '02.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic?
It's still being developed but I think that the new Clive Barker's game, Jericho , is going be really gory and scary. Undead templars and ancient curses!
-
Maybe it's just me, but I always considered Redneck Rampage to be a quite "deviated" game. Not in the sense of "bloodness", but hey, going chicken hunting with a dynamite-boosted crossbow in good 'ol south (Arkansas) IS pretty weird :D

Hmm, maybe you mean Severance - Blade of Darkness??
That game rocked, but was too hard for me :(

Anyone played Moonstone?

Nah Dark Messiah came out a few months ago. Its pretty gory.

thief: dark project, thief 2: metal age, thief 3: deadly shadows?

No orcs in thief, and I don't remember localized damage (besides knockout). Besides killling wasn't the idea in those games. It does sound fun though.
-
Nah, it was more like a game where you could use bows like sniper rifles, and equip different kinds of arrows...grenade arrows, poison arrows, energy arrows, fire arrows. You could upgrade your armor, your weapons....serve a dark mistress, become an elfish good guy, or a dark shady assassin. You could pick male or female, and it was friggin wicked. 3rd person for melee weapons, 1st person for using bows , crossbows etc.
-
Manhunt was gory but not that great of a game. FEAR is scared ****less scary and it would take an oil tanker to hold all the gore in it. so....much....blood....
-
Kingpin was the first game to surprise me with the level of gore. Using a shotgun to dismember a corpse was strangely satisfying. It was also the first time I hear swearing on my PC and, despite having a foul mouth myself, I was geniuinely shocked. It just didn't seem right at all.
