Title: new particle rendering code
Post by: Bobboau on June 05, 2004, 03:21:42 pm
OK, this was something RT was doing, but the particle system is so slow I couldn't stand it, I've played about with some of the rendering parameters and I think I've lessened (to the point it's barely visable between the two systems running side by side) the incorect scaleing issue with pointsprites, at least on my computer.
there probly won't be any visable improvement to the frame rate compared with other recent builds I've posted becase this code has been in all of them I just now got it working semi-corectly

Hmm, I'm getting a CTD, no error. I've added a joystick tho.

Errorlog.txt:

BWOData is the BWO demo, I've got the mediaVP installed as well.

Happens roughly randomly, one time I had it CTD as soon as I entered the mission.

I didn't think the BWO demo had any movies.

Well, it works for me.

And I must say, good work Bobboau. Despite some really bad problems (see SCP main forums), you have managed to get RT's particle thingy to work ALMOST properly. It's still noticeable, but a lot (a huge lot) better than it was.

A bit more of fiddling and you'll succeed in making it look like the old rendering code.

That's probably your problem. Get a Ti4200 or better...
