That's what I meant, even the last RC we shipped is still using 2.0.3.
To be clear, when you said

you meant that wxLauncher didn't get updated after SDL 2.0.4 was released? If so, that's incorrect; the first RC for wxLauncher 0.12 was released months after FSO had already updated to SDL 2.0.4.

Ah, well.  Then, retroactively, what I _meant_ was that even though it was released we didn't ship it with the updated version :P

So we still need to fix that by shipping an updated wxLauncher with an updated SDL2 :)

My vote is to skip straight to 2.0.5, since FSO will presumably get there soon, perhaps before 3.8 goes final?

Also, my hunch that something was wrong with the SDL2.dll that ships with wxL 0.12.0 RC2 proved correct:
Using the SDL2.dll from the latest 32-bit nightly solved the problem.

Not likely, unless there's a major bug with SDL 2.0.4. Otherwise, that'll have to wait for 3.8.2.

Firstly, sorry about the timeframe on this.  New house and new job and bull**** from the previous job have not been leaving any time for wxLauncher.  But lets see what I can do this week.

Well, I have been integrating SDL 2.0.5 in all of my builds since October.

As for the 360 controller, I have an XBox One controller and I end up with a null GUID with it as well.  I have tried tinkering with it and there are no errors being reported by SDL, it seems that SDL doesn't see anything wrong.  Maybe it is how I am compiling the SDL2.dll.

I seem to recall the hold up on releasing 0.12 RC3 was getting a build that would actually work on macOS.  It has been a while since I was fiddling with it, but iirc it was something to do with wxWidgets.

Are you compiling the SDL2.dll, or compiling _against_ the SDL2.dll headers?  Because I'm pretty sure on Windows everyone should be using the officially provided SDL2.dll binaries for consistency.  I think someone even stated that using the SDL2.dll from FSO (the official dll) seems to have fixed the problem?

Also, I have been using a working 0.12.0 rc3 build on Mac for quite a while.  There are some wx issues but it is usable.  Mostly you can't Cmd+Q to close it, have to click the red close button I think.  But it has at least been stable for me, not once lately I can even remember an actual crash.

Compiling the SDL2.dll, but as it turns out may not even be that because the .dll is not being copied into the right directory when running and the hashes of it don't match anything I can find...

Either way, using the official SDL2.dll, the XBox One controller is getting a GUID.

Probably going to release 3.8.0 RC2 really soon (probably tomorrow now that we got the TrackIR dll thing sorted out), if this is available by then I can try to update the release post template to include a new link.

Is this launcher compatible with 3_8_0? It refuses to launch at all when using 3_8_0. Older versions seem to work fine.

3.8.0 RC1 will not work properly with wxLauncher 0.10.1. You might have better luck with a recent nightly build; if that doesn't work, you'll need a newer version of wxLauncher.

I'm having a couple issues with wxL 0.12.0.
1. It doesn't show the screencam script in the list of mods.
2. The help just says "None" over and over.
Neither of these problems are present in Diaspora's launcher.

I wanted to ask: if it's OK I replace the SDL2.dll 2.0.3 file in wxLauncher with the one in FSO 2.0.4?

Replacing the DLL is fine (and, with 0.12, fixes the bug where xinput gamepads can't be selected), but be careful: if you use the 64-bit version of FSO, its SDL2 DLL is also 64-bit, and cannot be used with 32-bit wxLauncher.

Have you tried this? wxlauncher-0.12.0-rc.2.exe
I am using that version.
I figured out the Screencam script problem; it needs to be added as a dependency in the desired mod.ini.
As for the help file, I tried compiling it myself and the issue isn't there, so I'm not sure what the problem is with the released binary.

Thank you AdmiralRalwood and chief1983, will download SDL2.dll 2.0.4. But what about 2.0.5? If I replace both SDL2.dll with it with the correct bitage would it work better or is irrelephant?

I also saw that there was an RC3 for Macs.  Is there going to be a new version for Windows too at some point?

Rc3 for other platforms was unnecessary as it only fixed a mac issue.  I built that one myself and didn't have an environment for the other platforms at the time.  We may make a new release for all platforms soon though if we didn't already, to fix some issues I think we resolved recently.

Thanks for the info.

A minor question on how the next one for Windows will be called:  will it be called .12.0 RC4 or .12 Final  (kind of like how FSO builds are labeled)?
