Text to speech doesn't seem to be working for me on the  build 3.8.0 (x64) SSE.  In the troubleshooting I enable the "Check if this build has speech" and the box came up saying it was initialized and I heard the system say "welcome to fso open".  I made sure that the launcher has the setting turns on for all areas (mission, briefing, etc).  I made sure in game the setting for briefing voice is on, and the voice volume it not muted.  When I get into a briefing or mission though, none of the text is being read out.  I can't seem to figure it out.

I can hear all other sounds also.  I know the text to voice kinda stinks, but due to some vision problems, I have trouble reading the messages, and the text to speech is pretty important for me.  Any help would be appreciated.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

EDIT: Except I specifically need the "speech" debug category, so I need you to make a debug_filter.cfg containing (at least) the line "+Speech" (debug_filter.cfg goes in the same folder fs2_open.log gets generated in).

You got it.  When I ran it using fs2_open_3_8_0_x64_SSE2-FASTDBG.exe build, instead of fs2_open_3_8_0_x64_SSE2.exe which I usually do, I did get a couple of popup with errors.  I hit continue and it finished loading.

I did a quick search in in the log and it looks like speech is set to false for all areas, but I can assure you in the launcher it is checked on for all.
Had to archive it, it was too big to attach.

Screenshot of the launcher's TTS settings, please; also please attach your fs2_open.ini file (it's in the folder just outside the data folder your fs2_open.log was in; if you can't find it, I'll have a strong suspicion of what the problem is).

Download this version of wxLauncher; it works better with FSO 3.8 than the old 0.10.1 version.
