Title: Warning - Revision 5104+

Any nightly builds from revision 5104 onwards are no longer compatible with earlier nightly builds or recent builds when it comes to playing multiplayer. Please ensure that if you have a newer build than this one, so does everyone else or the result is likely to be a crash.

why ?

just to try and undrstand ....

is it because of inferno merge ?

No bug fixes that break compatibility with older 3.6.10 builds due to different packets needed.

Yep. The only way to fix those problems was to break compatibility. And since I had to do that for these bugs, I took advantage of the chance to fix Inferno as well since that also required breaking it.

my girl friend swears by the breaking things to fix them , well with her car that is .... she breaks it i fix it and the cycle repeats....


but thanks for the info does this mean there is a merge oor not , can we now have lots more ships in trunk ?

Yes, trunk Inferno builds from now on will work in multiplayer.

I won't be doing any more packet breaking until 3.6.11 hopefully. :)

Nope. The code for fixing the Inferno multiplayer issue only activates in an Inferno build. The actual limits haven't changed at all. Simply that Inferno builds now work in multiplayer.

do you ever think the 2 branches will be merged (or is this impossible) , i was just wondering if we use a recent nightly build and a recent inferno build together in multiplayer will the stats save ......

Wouldn't work. I deliberately fixed it so that Inferno builds and standard builds couldn't see each other. If I hadn't they'd probably crash each other when trying to play a game together.

The goal for 3.7 is to make the need for Inferno builds obsolete though.

thanks kara , it ill be good when there is one common build that doesnt have too many limitations within it......;

that way we could have 130+ ships in a squad war  now that would be interesting
