The Medelus Class - Vesla's Strike Carrier
I just finished UV Mapping the Medelus Class, and I'm currently working on the textures for it.
Keep in mind, the textures are not yet done, but the final product should look very close to this.

It's actually closer to a Heavy Cruiser, but the encounter with Human Carrier Tactics has forced the Veslans to repurpose the Medelus to a new role in the Stellar Battlefield (like many of their other ships). It should be noted however, that the Medelus always had a fighter bay, but it originally carried atmospheric fighters which would be dropped off while the Medelus Skimmed the Atmosphere of a planet. Since the Veslans had to create their own Stellar Fighters, the Medelus became the defacto main carrier, until the Ganeluza of course.

The closested Human equivilant to the Medelus is the Callisto Escort Carrier, however both ships are clear tactical opposites. For instance, the Callisto lacks any serious firepower, while the Medelus has 10 Balsark Class Cannons, and 2 heavier guns unique to the Medelus itself. If a Medelus reaches firing range of a Terran warship, the Terrans would quickly regret letting it get that close.

However, in terms of Fighter launching capability, the Callisto has the Medelus outclassed, the Callisto has 2 Main fighter bays capable of launching 2 fighters at a time each, thusly launching a 4 man wing every wave. The Medelus on the other hand, can only launch it's wings one fighter at a time, single file. Also, the Callisto stores over 40 fighter craft, while the Medelus has a maximum capacity of 24 individual fighters, or a total of 4 six man wings. Both ships are equipped with a full support staff and maintenance bay. (Contrast this with the Delmmer Class Mini Carrier/Frigate, which only has space for 6 fighters and minimal maintenance & support.)

For size comparison;
Left - Medelus
Middle - Balsark
Far Right - Delmmer
Fighter - Triblade

The Launch Bay;

Can we get a modelled runway on it?
I really can't wait to start messing with colission and landing physics.

Major News Update:
The Medelus Does Indeed RAPE FACE!  :eek2:

We made a little test mission pitting a Callisto Carrier against the Medelus, and while the Medelus is slower at launching it's fighters, it's sheer number of cannons makes it a deadly monster. I have yet to be able to rescue the SSF Shadow from a fiery death.
