Beyond Protocol and Star Alliances, games produced by Dark Sky Entertainment, are now available as Open Source.  Take an opportunity to go out and download the the code and make all the modifications you have dreamed of making.

For Beyond Protocol,
http://beyondprotocol.sourceforge.net/

For Star Alliances,
http://staralliances.sourceforge.net/

We hope to see everyone there.  Many players are forming a dev community now, in addition, BeyondProtocol.org is back and Vimes is suggesting that he is going to make changes to support the opensource initiatives.

I'm not sure what happened to Dark Sky yet, but maybe this fledgling group of modders could use a home for their new community?  Either way, I saw BP at GenCon a while ago, and it was pretty friggin' awesome.  I'd keep an eye on this one.

Is this part of Beyond Protocol?

I googled it and it said it was an MMORTS? That's pretty cool...any more info about these games? :)

I don't know too much else, but I was pretty impressed with what I saw at GenCon.  I just can't get into an MMO, personally, but since it's open source that could change things.  I don't know what that means for its future.

Pretty sure we'll see something along the lines of servers running modded versions.

Star Wars mod plz! :D

Interesting... it seems like the game is a mix of Sins with Master of Orion, but solely for online play. Cool stuff, chaps. :)

I never said it was playable, I said it was open sourced :P

It will probably take some time to get going.

Not that I know of, I just thought I'd point it out to some people.  The games actually seemed pretty badass, I hope their fresh community can pick it up and get it turned into something interesting.  Not sure what that would be though.
