How do I install this? Is it standalone or does it require a freespace 2 installation?

You'll need a copy of Freespace 2 (plus optionally a copy of FSOpen (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=85435.0) - you can play FSPort with retail data but unless you're a purist there's no reason to do so).
