Title: Allegiance now opensource on Steam
Post by: FIZ on October 04, 2017, 09:41:41 pm
Microsoft Research officially released this game to be shared GNU style : https://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=72316

I'd be surprised if any of you who still.. trawl... this forum haven't heard this yet.  It's available via Steam, fresh from the year 2000.

What is it:  Tribes / Planet Side in space.  It has a unique physics engine, where flying is not like space or Earth atmosphere, more like undersea.  For commanders, it's like Starcraft with units that argue back.  For pilots, it's daunting to dive into, but once you get the basics it's the ****ing noosphere.

Well... actually i think this game was always a good idea that went bad in the process of development.
Not to speak of, that the idea was maybe too early for a 2000 release.

Yes, it was still an era of 56k modems.  Game is still a bit buggy with the move to Steam, but the community is stirring.

If you don't mind can you elaborate on that?
