Crash on loading a mission.
I just reinstalled Freespace2 with the open installer, and keep getting this error when I try to start a mission:

Error: Bad ID in model file <bombardier.pof>

Edit: Further testing shows that this only happens when trying to play JAD. Any ideas?

Not familiar with that mod but you can try downloading it again.  If it uses the MediaVPs there try manually installing them.  Been a rash of corrupted MediaVP installs lately. 

If neither of those help post your system specs, get the latest 3.6.10 from the Knightly Builds forum, run the debug build, and post the fs2_open.log from the data directory using code tags.

It crashes so much faster if I use 3.6.10.

If problem persists and you downloaded the MediaVPs with Turey's Installer, redownload the MediaVPs manually from the 3.6.10 MediaVPs release thread using the Sectorgame links. Also, redownload JAD(s).

Also tried redownloading the MediaVPs? I just checked and bombardier.pof is in MV_Assets. And a corrupt MV_Assets would result in such an error.

Did you download them manually or use the installer again?  You need to do a manual download. 
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras
