It's in a sense the same problem that Titanfall 2 had, with EA trying to sell it in the same week as Call of Duty (not a good idea)

The team behind Titanfall 2 is still in anatomy measurement contest with the team behind CoD ... when you meet with their PR guys in person at the edges of a trade show you really get a sense of how deep they are into that competion - rationality has long left them

I tried War Thunder for the first time and now I can't stop playing it. I really love how there is this realistic damage model instead of a measly HP Bar.

Hm, maybe the subsystem based damage system can also be used in a Freespace mod...

But for now, I'm too busy shooting Nazis out of the air to test that theory.

Re: What are you playing right now?
That's the texture from DEM 1:1? (I currently have no means of comparison but there is that spect of the TAC 1-texture)

BTW - if you need extra slogans (I am pretty sure they came up already, so I claim no credit):

"Head for the Shivans" (from the Bosch Beer-wiki page)

"After a day filled with horror and with a weekend you can only dream of..." (see Intro)

"Ignorance may be the greatest weapon of tyranny - Taste it!" (see Mono2)

"Crowned in infamy" (see Mono2)
(this might no translate well - the foam on top of beer can be called "(Schaum-)Krone" in german, which is "crown" in english, and is considered a measure of quality)
"As you sought to steal a kingdom for yourself, so must you do again, a thousand times over. For a theft, a true theft, must be practiced to be earned." - The terms of Nyrissa's curse, Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Re: What are you playing right now?
It's a combination of the TAC-1 texture from here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=55076.0
And the TC-TRI Texture from DEM 1.  :)

I just made up my slogans, but if I make a Bosch billboard I will use all of those for sure.  :D

I just learned something new today!

Also, just to make it more visible, here is the description from it's workshop page:

The NTF Bosch Beer Truck is the Neo-Terran Front's latest propaganda machine. Armed with the promise of a cool refreshing taste and the threat of planetary invasion, hundreds of NTF Bosch Beer Trucks was sent 300 years back in time through the Ross128 plothole by Admiral Aken H. Re: What are you playing right now?
Just finished Jedi Starfighter again, playing through an emulator this time. Finished all 15 missions, complete with bonus and hidden objectives, although it was far from a flawless experience; massive slowdowns in planetary missions (down to as low as 30% with as much geometry as possible onscreen, although in most cases simply zooming in was in enough to bring the speed back up to full again), one mission suffering some kind of emulation bug making a plot-critical ship just **** off in a random direction instead of ramming its target (making it impossible to progress), and the two hardest missions in the entire game crashed the first time I beat them (before it could save).

Still, even with all that, I still did beat it (on Medium; I'm not crazy enough to play on Hard with emulation that flawed), and it confirmed my memory of the game: a pretty good arcade-y mission-based flight sim, with plenty of interesting gameplay mechanics, fun bonus features (including, like, 9 unlockable ships)... and a few very aggravatingly-designed missions. However, I tend to forgive them the annoying missions just for the sheer joy of the second-to-last mission, which lets you call in orbital bombardment on targets you specify and is just really, really fun.

I really wish this game had gotten a PC port, instead of the vastly inferior game it was the sequel to; as it is, I can't really recommend trying to emulate it yourself until PS2 emulation improves further.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Ps2 emulation through PCSX2 is generally pretty damn good, especially the current nightly builds with mipmapping support. Though you do have to know or take some time experimenting with a lot of settings to get every game running well. These newer builds can run the Ace Combat PS2 titles almost perfectly(aside from a completely black player aircraft texture in AC04) in hardware mode and with a higher internal resolution, something that PCSX2 was long unable to do.

Even with that, there are just some games that just can't be made to behave and I don't think that'll change much in the future. With Jedi Starfighter you can get the planetary missions running properly by increasing the EE cyclerate and adding in some VU cycle stealing.
Savestates also help with post-mission crashes which happen in some games.

Not when the GS subsystem is the cause of the slowdown, you can't.

Well, I guess for me that never happened then. Any slowdowns I had in the planetary missions went away when I upped VU cycle stealing to 1.

Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap for Master System on Mega Drive with adapter.
While googling about the charm stones I discovered that with a second controller plugged in I could pause the game and get to the equipment menu by pressing the D-pad on said controller, which means no more risk of moving the cart when pressing the pause button on the adapter.
Apart from the charm stone thing (still have to find a way to grind them reliably) the game is going smooth, I defeated the Zombie Dragon, got the sword for breaking blocks, the anti-lava armor, a couple more heart containers and a secret room for shapechanging in the main HUB.
I'm not surprised that the remake apart for the charm stones mechanic is basically identical gameplay-wise, this is just a beautiful little proto-metroidvania, basic yet incredibly enjoyable.

Out of curiosity how are the Dark Souls ports for PC?  I'm curious about picking the series back up but would rather utilize my new rig than dig up the console.
