A stand alone viewer like in game viewer for ships, guns and missiles?
Hey folks!  ;)
Is there a stand alone viewer that is like in the game intelligence section for viewing the ships, guns and missiles? My copy of the game is in storage and I used to go in game to view my work. Call me a knucklehead if there is one as I don't see it!

All the best,
Jadehawk

There isn't a stand-alone "I don't have to run FSO" techroom viewer. The FotG team have been working on exporting this data from the tables and presenting it to a website, but this isn't complete yet.

Other ingame options are:
*) F3 lab
*) In game techroom script

Debian Packages (testing/unstable): Freespace2 | wxLauncher

Hey niffiwan,
Thanks for this information :) I would really find it handy to have a stand alone program to run like the Tech room so I can observe my work so I know it's up to snuff before releasing. I wish it was part of the POF editor as it would be an all-in-one stop after creating your .pof file.

Thanks again!

...Why don't you just launch FSO for that?

Maybe because FSO can be slow, and doesn't have a feature similar to Dev Live Reload?

Re: A stand alone viewer like in game viewer for ships, guns and missiles?
...It takes me less than 20 seconds to launch FSO, get into the tech room, and select a specific ship. Since half of that is navigating the UI and half of the rest of it is parsing the very data any such utility would also want to process in order to function, I'm not really sure what good a separate utility would be.

yes very true. folks...if I had the game. As I said in my first post, my copy is in storage at the moment and was asking if there was a stand alone product. :)

If you need FS2 data to mod your ship, a standalone tool wouldn't help; if you don't, Diaspora or some other standalone FSO game should work just as well.
