Re: Xiytiar-class transport
son of a *****.   Oh well, I HAD thought about doing this one, but now that it's been snagged out from underneath.....  Anyways, it's a nice job for what you have modeled so far.  I AM wondering though what you used for reference as I think that the XWA and EGVV has slightly different designs for the engines and forward laser cannon array.  Or is my memory just crap? :blah: (meh.. probably).
Deuternomy 22:11 explained:

And now, an excerpt from the Prayer of Mordecai, the Book of Esther Chapter C (New American Bible Official Catholic version).

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
Well, for anything not in the movies, but in the EGVV, the guide becomes more of a loose reference.  It's still usually the best thing we have, but it's hardly ever the word of god.  For movie ships it's usually defined somewhat better, but it still has its flaws.  But yeah, for non-movie ships, since most of them have only existed as rough illustrations at best, it's usually up to the modeler to just make it look recognizable, and good.

For ships like this, I meld my sources together into what I think is most aesthetically pleasing. But if you wanted to know...

it's all good.  I should be the last person complaining about creative liberties and all.  :P

btw, are there any specific ships that you want textured, Tempest?  I know that you have a lot of models and I'm not quite ready to go back to mucking around with the Z-95 at this point.

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
Well I've just checked the list for all the ships that you've currently modeled and since there's quite a few, I'll just post them all here and we can decide on what's a priority and what's not.

B-wing
Nebulon-B Frigate
Escort Transport
Stormtrooper Transport
Assault Transport
Lancer Frigate
YT-1300
Twin-Pod Cloud Car
Muurian Transport
Y-4 Raptor
Action VI Transport
R-41 Starchaser
Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser
Modular Conveyor

I'd probably opt for something small, even though my eyes light up at the thought of seeing a capital ship textured.  The Assualt and Escort Transports seem really cool too as you did a nice job of giving those things an aggressive looking appearance.

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
Turambar already started texturing the B-Wing.  The R-41 is still up for grabs though.  Not much on that list has gotten past the mesh.  The vast majority of it is Tempest's models from over the summer, so we'd love to get a few of those in game.  It'd be great if they were done by priority, but if you want something small just take the first thing on the list that stands out.  We will probably need at least one troop transport, and the YT-1300 is currently marked priority 1.  The Neb-B would be nice too, but it's a bit larger.

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
I know that the YT-1300 is a priority 1 ship, but really, are there any missions that make extensive use of it?  The Empire if anything wouldn't use it (they'd opt for the Stormtrooper Transport most likely, and I can see that being used in missions far more).

Unless......, unless, we're currently trying to fulfill every fanboy's wet dream of having an accurate Battle of Endor (not to mention Yavin) as one of our first releases for that which I'll happily comply to hasten the process :D

The Nebbie definitely falls into the category of things I'd most want to see done.  I'll have to think about it, if Yavin and Endor are going to be focal points, then I'll definitely want to help get more elements of the Rebel Fleet done.  I'd say that the top three that I'm leaning on are the Stormtrooper Transport, Nebulon-B, and then I guess the YT-1300.

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
Stormtrooper transport is taken- you should check with me before working with my stuff.

The Nebulon would be absolutley great to have ingame, and the texturing shouldn't be that challenging either (just time consuming). The assault transports would also be nice. Same with the lancer or the assault transports. Just go for something you think you can pull off the best.

All movie ships, even one off ships, are priority one. This goes the same with the firespray, even though it will probably make little more than a cameo in the main campaign(s).

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
I don't know if the BoE will be in a first release, but Brand mentioned having some ideas on how to go about it, and it would be nice to see eventually.  Right now, I'd most like to get fighters done, but most of the Priority 1 fighters are already taken by everyone else, or not modeled yet.  The YT-1300 could come in handy as sort of a cameo during the campaign, but you're right about it probably not being a staple ship.  It's only priority 1 because it's in the Original Trilogy.

Re: Xiytiar-class transport
lol, my bad.  just checked the website's screenies, and indeed texturing has already started on that one.
I guess I'll give the Nebulon-B a shot.  I've always had a particular fondness for that ship.

Didn't we have this discussion a while ago Turambar?  Over who's gonna model the DSII interior? hehe

Either way, remember that the YT-1300 isn't just the Millenium falcon, it's also a pretty generic freighter as well.

I was gonna post earlier, but I caught a major case of the lazies. Nice ship, though I've never seen nor heard of it in the EU.

Ah, was apparently mentioned in X-Wing Iron Fist as part of the Hawk-bat guise worn by Wraith Squadron... :blah:

Sidenote: nice work on the Cloakshape- and Howlrunner-class fighters.
