Somewhat older, but still loving my gaming logging in here today after who knows how many years! My wife threw away all my old games almost a year ago so was looking at buying on GOG or steam or something - then remembered the forum and an old hard drive had some stuff on.
Anyway turns out i own freespace 2 on gog....

Do i need to buy freespace again? I recall finding a cd of descent: freespace at a car boot sale.... but it seems now that is what its called not just freespace

thanks

wookieejedi:
If you own Freespace via GoG, you can just sign into GoG and download, at least that is what I have done for new computers. Also, welcome back and be sure to check out KnossosNET, the modern launcher and mod manager for all things Freespace :)

Also feel free to join our HLP Discord if you want, commonly it has more activity than the forum now:

JC:
Thank you

I cant see the invite?

It looks about 10 years since i was on here...which is about right - daughter now a teenager, so more time for this again!

So I have Freespace 2 on gog....a comment on there mentions if i update that via here - that would inlcude FS1 and silent threat...

"BUT READ THIS FIRST. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO APPLY THE MODERNITY UPGRADE FOR GRAPHICS VIA THE FREESPACE OPEN PROJECT, DO NOT BUY FREESPACE 1.

THE ENTIRETY OF FREESPACE 1 (CAMPAIGN + SILENT THREAT MISSIONS) IS INCLUDED IN THE FREESPACE OPEN PROJECT'S GRAPHICAL UPDATE OF FREESPACE 2"

was written in a GOG games review is that still correct?

So as im running win 11 - install the 1.3.1 installer and run?

JC:
The addons ive found for fs1
Aftermath
then a number of .vp files with various names - (odeon/sparky/tango)
any idea what they are?

then i also have transcend and derelict for FS2 plus AEOS affair - but all with dates of 2007 so hopefully there are newer 'versions'?

qweqwe321:
if you own FS2, don't buy FS1.  instead, install knossos.net and get the Freespace Port.

transcend and derelict have all been updated.

oh, and there's Inferno 2, which was released after 20 years of development.

^_^
