]Can someone make ANI's Mappable onto FS ships, I have had a look at the FS source but that section looks complex[/color]
-
yes, and for laser weapons, too. i want to make a photon torpedo.
-
Well, I have an altered thruster glow I'm going to use for a photon torpedo...
-
need it for a mass driver....heehee
-
so i take it that if this was done it would be popular
-
I'd need it for various stuff actually. Would be great as background, too.
-
yep, we could make an exploding capella!
-
A gas giant with swirling gases would look really cool. ;) (but it might eat away some system resources)

who cares as long as your computer does not crash

WAIT A MINUTE!! The subspace opening POF model has the subspace effect ANI mapped onto it! Open up the code! Somebody look into it!

hey dude! what's wrong with your eyes???
-
I can't look into it because all I code are tables and SEXPs. I don't know a character of anything else.
Or do you mean this? Now those eyes are funky.

subspace does not have an ani mapped on it, it's a simple pcx on a rotating subspace model, with animated UV space
-
he meant the warpin/warpout effects, and those are definitely mapped with anis
-
The big difference between the warpout and ships is that it is done as a fireball. Explosions are animations as well. The texturing data from the pof file (if the pof is even used) seems to be ignored as far as I can tell. (Probably a change made so they could have two different types: Regular and knossos. There is also a PCX used for the warpin/out effect. My guess is the PCX is placed on the model if a model is even used and the animation is shown on the screen.
Edit: A clarification. The warp hole model is not texture mapped. So ani files as textures is not yet supported. In game anis are. :)

Actually, the best place to look would be the section that controls the thruster flames...
-
yes they are submodels and they also feature ambiant glow, and transparency
-
Yeah, so, it's indeed the best place. Go take a look and then tell us. ;)
-
i would go look, but i understand about as much source code as i do greek, i can recognize the letters and thats about it :p
-
Someone, it could have been Sandwich, already did this... mimic'd an animated texture area by imitating the characteristics of a thruster flame. Made an animated warp gate of some sort...

Clouds would rule the skies :D

so how do you map anis?
