Title: RE-RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.1 (12-AUG-2021)
Post by: Admiral Nelson on October 31, 2010, 11:38:48 am
This is a campaign originally created by Robert Carroll for FS1 in 1998.  It is a 4 mission campaign chronicling the birth of Eagle Security Services, a small mercenary corporation.  This was the first campaign to employ custom weapon ANIs, and one of the earliest to employ TBL changes.  It has been converted to FSO and updated with new graphics, custom cbanis, and title music along with FREDDing tweaks and debugging.  This is one of the more entertaining old FS1 campaigns, which I had wanted to polish up ever since finding an Amazon drone reskin amongst the TVWP files.

Just released from GTA service due to budget cuts, you and a friend strike out on your own to earn a living. Eagle Security Services Inc. is born and it's going to take a skilled pilot to make your company a success:

Requires FSO 3.6.12, mediavps 3.6.12 and FSPort media vps.
Installation: Unzip to your FS2 folder and select the mod "EagleTakesFlight" in the launcher.

Mad Bomber's one was based on the concept of this one.

actually madbomber wanted to improve on that... He's posted at sectorgame recently...

wasn't that the campaign where you actually got to fly a modified amazon drone?

I have sent a note to Swantz.  Not sure why it vanished from FS Mods.

Starlord, this is the original old FS1 campaign, not Mad Bomber's new one.

true, but several members here expressed acquiring the files madbomber was planning to use for his remade campaign, including the antaeus...

Speaking of which, I've sent him an email: we'll see what happens!

Could one of you guys contact me on AIM or Skype or something that i can send files with? I don't want the files to be publicly downloadable.

AIM = Suralin0
Skype = suralin

In fact if you see a Suralin anywhere it's probably me.

Nope. Poke me on skype.

There aren't many people who use Suralin as a handle online, chances are you can find me with little to no effort.

Have a strange issue.

The laser bolts does not emerge from my guns.

For all intents and purposes, they are functional, but they lack of laser bolts is quite annoying.

Uhm, that shouldn't be happening. Are you sure you installted ETT correctly? Are you using the latest version of the FSPort? Did you experience any slowdowns?

P.S.
"die" should be "dice" in your signature. :)

No it shouldn't, 'die' is the singular, 'dice' is the plural, and Wikipedia in its omnipotence tells me he definitely said 'die'

Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0

still no one? If not, I don't know, perhaps I could host the files... until someone else proposes to. It would be a shame to leave this falter...
Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0
Post by: starlord on February 21, 2011, 07:31:28 am
I have sent a message to madbomber to host the files (so far, should he agree), However I'm sure someone else than I could have much better use for them... I'll ask again: might anyone be interested? the files also contain a WIP model called the antaeus (essentially a fenris design with fighter docking points)...

awaiting your advice!

well... if no one, you might consider just dumping them to FreeSpaceMods.
If you don't want that,  I guess I could take them!

@ktistai: ok then, that's fine!

I'll send them to you as soon as I get them from madbomber...

Madbomber has to access his old laptop first, then he'll send me the files which I'll give to ktistai

good news! mad bomber himself is back on the sectorgame forums discussing the modalities under which the ETF files should be released... many of them include fiction consistent with the ETF timeline... you should take a look!

EDIT: news on the forum: Ktistai will host the files!

It's probably been a while since anyone bothered with this one, but I started it tonight and noticed the same problem. With the ML-22, there is no graphic for the weapons fire.

The muzzle flashes are fine, and the ML-16 works fine when I start the FS1 campaign on the Eagle mod.

This is on a fresh, clean install of FSPort 3.4 and this mod. Zacam suggested it was a mod order issue in mod.ini, but placing fsport in the Primary modlist did not solve the problem.

Debug log here. (http://pastebin.com/g7ehg031)

According to your log you don't have the fsport_mediavps file.
'E:\Games\FreeSpace2\fsport_mediavps\' ... 0 files
Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0
Post by: Kon on October 29, 2013, 09:21:34 pm
Well, problem solved. By default, this campaign looks for "fsport_mediavps." Every other FSPort campaign I have looks for "fsport-mediavps" with a dash instead of an underscore, and I also name my MVPs folder with a dash.

Changed that one typo in the mod.ini and it seemed to solve the problems. Unfortunately it also causes the campaign's custom mainhall music to revert back to the FS1 theme, but it's hardly a deal breaker. Sometimes the most simple things are overlooked.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0
Post by: Macfie on October 30, 2013, 04:49:13 am
The older releases of the FSPort Media VPs used the underscore because FSOpen wouldn't process files with a dash.  It's an FS1 campaign so it should have FS1 music.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0
Post by: AdmiralRalwood on October 31, 2013, 12:49:01 am
It's an FS1 campaign so it should have FS1 music.
Except this campaign has a custom mainhall theme that should be playing instead. The problem is that fsport_mediavps is in the primarylist, meaning it takes precedence over the files in the mod, including the mainhall theme. SSX-Kahn, try changing the [multimod] section of the mod.ini to this:
Code: [Select]
[multimod]
primarylist = ;
secondarylist = fsport-mediavps,fsport,mediavps_3612;

You are correct, I missed that he had modified the MOD.ini.  It has been awhile since I looked at this campaign.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Eagle Takes Flight 2.0
Post by: Kon on November 03, 2013, 02:16:51 pm
Thanks, this seems to be the ideal mod.ini! :yes: Perhaps it would be a good idea to edit the release thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=72357.0) with the proper code so that others know the included mod.ini is a bit broken.

Edit: Okay, this is the release thread. :P
