FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
Players suffering from low FPS with UEF ships onscreen, please download Antipodes 6 and try it out.

Initial reports of one user indicate a 60 FPS gain in the opening of Delenda Est, which seems unbelievable.  :eek2:

That better not be an excuse to put off optimization of the Steve-O ships.

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
There is some performance boost. Optimizations are still necessary, though.

Until a modeller goes through and optimises the models, this is the best method for improving framerate.

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
The new build does indeed provide a significant improvement in game performance. Aristeia and Delenda Est now run decently on my computer, even with advanced visuals, which I had to disable before in order to get a decent frame rate in those missions. The Solaris still causes the frame rate to significantly drop, but it does not completely kill the game by turning it into a slide show like it did before.

hopefully this will get rid of the solaris skybox of doom effect also.

Can you elaborate? I'm not certain I have ever heard about anything like this...

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
I think he is referring to the fact that the Solaris can sometimes cause graphical corruption to the game when it appears. That happened to me once when it appeared when I was using advanced visuals, though it didn't corrupt the skybox, it caused texture corruption on a number of ships.

What the hell kind of remark is that? We've been trying to get those ships optimized since months before release. It's not a matter of 'excuses'; it simply hasn't been finished yet because it's hard.

Sorry. It was actually an attempt at a joke, intending to poke fun at how badly optimized they are. In no way was I criticizing anyone on the BP team.

what nova said.  except it went a step further on mine and made the mother of all artifacts that looked like a stretched out solaris texture over just about all of the view.  thus i call it the solaris "skybox" (of doom).  i made thread about it a while back.  weren't you the one who posted a similar screenshot?

There is no rage in me. Just the desire to burn Steve-O for his sins.

That was sweet

I can also say that this build pumps the fps on my laptop +20 up (e.g. the intro cutscene). Didn't test it on my machine but SCP runs there with 120+ fps anyway.

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
How odd, I never noticed a FPS drop during WiH. At all.
Not during the Solaris appearance, not during Delenda Est.

And my computer isn't awesome, either. Miracles?

Try the massive battle single mission. If that runs smooth, then it really is a miracle.

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
I was able to keep 60 FPS on DE until the Karunas jump in without the Antipodes. Would've been nice to keep the system responsible for playing it so smoothly more than two weeks. :doubt:

Re: FPS Improvements and Antipodes 6
Yeah, I get a consistent 5-15 FPS gain using Antipodes on my GTX 460 SLI rig.  I was getting lows of about 25 there with everything turned on and 8x AA at 1920x1200 without it.  One weird thing though is it doesn't play nice with my AA settings.  Even though post is disabled in the launcher, for whatever reason Antipodes automatically enables it or something, so I have no AA, but post processing.

I ran a debug build and generated a log, which I've attached below.
