I can complete the main campaign on medium without too much difficulty, but INFR1 is kicking my ass.

The mission with the independence and the nemesis is where I'm stuck right now. I can't seem to take out cannons fast enough to save the independence, even with my squad helping. Part of it seems to be that the "k" key doesn't want to select the primary cannons for some reason.

Is there anything I can do, or should I accept I suck and go back to easy?

Nemesis is one of the best user made missions. As Snail said, it's very difficult to beat at any level of difficulty above Easy. You can go back to easy, most people did this way ;)

Ok, I just might do that.

Other mission that kicked my ass was the one where you take out the weapons modules on the gate. Wow, the second EA destroyer has really accurate blob turrets.

That mission isn't that difficult. In order to succeed you should simply learn everything about Inferno models and target the most powerful turrets first ;)

I really did like Nemesis v Independance, was one of the best missions you guys could have come up with (Keep it pl33z3!!!).

I have gotten a perfect result before.
Saving all cruisers + corvettes, destroying the EAD Resolute (disabled it, disarmed all BSilvs), destroying all bombers + fighters, disarming the Nemesis's BFSilvs (nearly killed it too at 12%). I disarmed the Lindo's (forgot name) main turrets before they could rip the Ramanaya's hull apart.

I had a perfect mission in Easy difficulty, Normal is hard as hell...

I always armed myself with a Sabus bomber (Hastor + Prometheus, Sniper + 2 Helios), along with Alpha 1 (same as me), arming Alpha 3 and 4 with a Danaus, Cyclops.

Armed Gamma as Perseus's, ordered to guard the Ramanaya, sometimes Beta wing (3 and 4), so they can take care of Gaganas ripping apart Ramanaya, while I arm myself with a Hastor (rapid fire on bombs before they rip Solace, Carolina, other cruisers apart), Prometheus for secondary, then ripped apart bombers + stentors, with Beta's assistance. When the warships get in range with the Lindos, I order all of Alpha wing to disarm it, while I use my snipers to disarm the forward guns with a support ship standing by, while Beta finishes the remnants of Luna wing. When I destroy the Resolute, I always put my engines on full power to see Indy rip apart Nemesis, then I get in time to disarm Nemmy's turrets before they ripped Indy apart. Watch out as you fire your bombs, Nemmy might go mean on you and aim at your bombs with an MSilv (lost a perfect result because of that  :hopping:).

That isn't possible as the GTCa Warlock model has been dropped. The Nemesis is still there, though.

It's still there, sort of, new model and rebalanced class.

I managed it on medium a few times (and on hard ONCE) and I made the mission and played through it dozens of times. I'd expect most people to lower the difficulty to easy.

For taking out the beam cannons, I found something fun out:

The Hastor has a greater range than the Nemesis's anti-fighter weapons.

Meaning you can sit outside its range in one spot and blast the hell out of its beams.

Ooo, that I never knew. Snipers are the ultimate long range weapons though, 6.5 clicks to fire ^.^

Both seem reasonably deadly for cruisers, since they're both good long range weapons.

I wouldn't prefer being a sitting duck when I fire at Nemmy's cannons, since I'd see Indy die ;_;

I came pretty close to perfect on normal using all-perseus wings. It's just that after running a perfect escort then having the Indy torched I got sick of it and dropped it to easy.

EDIT:

Also, while the mission is really cool and fun it seems rather odd to risk a carrier in very short range combat. Based on the whole "is a carrier" thing you'd think it would just send in a whole lot of bombers.

EDIT 2: The mission I'd want you guys to keep is the one with the vasudan carrier. That was tremendous fun.

I agree. Hard, but fun.
Gettin' back to dodgin' lasers.

That mission was very well done, quite difficult to keep the Tanen alive if not enough bombs and bombers die.

When the Darkness corvette comes, I just order everyone to attack it while I take care of the bombers, the Darkness leaves without firing another salvo for me.

The Darkness only fires one salvo regardless. The trick is to tell everyone to protect the Tanen and then focus on the interceptors yourself. It never goes below 20% this way.
Gettin' back to dodgin' lasers.

Usually when I do that, EVERYONE ignores the Darkness, it goes on firing 2 volleys of beam goodness, and there goes one fireball.

Oh and they're never efficient in targeting bombs

Going back through INFR1, I'm still having trouble with Taking The Gate. I disabled all the second destroyer's beams, but then it sat there with single digit HP and killed the vasudan destroyer from 30% using its laser turrets ><.

There is no way you can take the beams out with that weapon from that distance because it is likely impossible to be accurate enough to hit the turrets from that distance enough times and fast enough to destroy them before it destroys the Independence.

With the Hastor and some Stiletto III's, it is possible and even easy. I've done it... repeatedly.

Hmm. I'll give that a try tomorrow when I do the last few missions on this new pilot.

For the mission, don't waste missiles destroying the Nemesis's turrets before it makes the jump, as they come back to full after jumping.  Instead, get over to where it emerges from subspace and unload with snipers.
