Skywatch reports objects inbound. Trajectory and braking suggests South Africa, Johannesburg. Local government has requested assistance. Stand-to Strike One.
"Central, we are down and locked. No sign of civilians. Sky reports no infrared traces-what the Christ is that!?"
"Those bodies....what the hell are they covered with? This green goopy stuff is-"
"Don't touch it! Irina, that thing, what can you tell us?"

Of course, we only found bits of their weapons. Scopecams revealed they self-destructed when the operator hit the ground. Seems awkward to me, means they can't go prone, but the short little bastards probably don't need to anyway. Anish and I are out of action for seven days while they patch us up. The ceramic inserts in our vests worked against what I'm told was a plasma; high vaporization temp. The stuff does burn, but mostly it triggers a vapor explosion. Incredible at demolishing most objects, but penetrating power is by guess and by god, which was why a glass door stopped one. The Kevlar in the armor, though...that's not going to do a bit of good.
