Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
Another issue with FRED : It seems to use a different POV setting than FS2_open itself.

Hence : "Objects in FRED are closer than they appear ingame"

You notice the difference when setting up cutscenes.

Yeah I tried to use the POV function with the Evertime SEXP , sthig like :

everytime
-and
--time exclasped 10
--not
---time exclasped 20
-set FOV
--+
---FOV(variable)
---2

This is to increase the FOV smoothly but thing did not go well I ve gone mad and stopped trying this thing.

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
Another note: FADE IN and FADE OUT do not work as expected. There is no FADE IN and FADE OUT in the current version of FRED2 included in the DVD

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
What do you mean with "FADE IN and FADE OUT do not work as expected"??

Here is what it does, quoted from skullar:

FADE IN  and  FADE OUT
Although you will find the fade SEXPs easy to understand, there is a minor thing you have to pay attention to :
You can only fade in after you faded out. So, if you, for example, want to fade in from black at beginning of mission, you have to fade out before. This fade out has to be instantenious, for example :

( - ) Fade in at mission start
- when
        - has time elapsed
              0
   - fade out
      0
   - fade in
      3000

This creates a nice fade-in effect from black.

"There is no FADE IN and FADE OUT in the current version of FRED2 included in the DVD"

Fade in and out is in all fred builds.

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
But I did exactly as he wrote and the mission start normally NO FADE IN / OUT as all.
Also, I tried to FADE OUT at the end of a mission and it did not work ?

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
How to disable camera host? I place the camera in other coordinates, but it constantly uses camera host and not those coordinates that I have specified.

For example

when
      -has-arrived-delay
          32
          PSI Omega Shuttle
      -set-camera-position
          -80
          -10
          -130
      -set-camera-host
          PSI Omega 4

when
      -has-arrived-delay
          0
          Delta 1
      -set-camera-position
          50
          0
          600
      -set-camera-target
          Delta 1

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
I think the reset-camera SEXP can fix that problem.

Re: CUTSCENE fredding tutorial
No, it does not help. If you only do not wish to use cutscenes in mission any more. I also used set-camera-position - getobject x, y, z and it has not helped too. Ok, I'll try to use other way.
