"Freespace2/Fred2 cannot be run from a drive root directory!"?
I got Freespace 2 off of Turrey's open installer or whatever,  and configured everything with the launcher. But now, whenever I try to start freespace 2, I get the error message:

"Freespace2/Fred2 cannot be run from a drive root directory!"

I have no idea what's going on. I've read some other threads about this, but either the person fixed the problem by running it from the launcher (tried that), or the solution ended up being for Linux and didn't apply to me. (Windows)

The first game was awesome, and I really wanted to play the sequel.  :( Please help.

You need to install to a directory like c:\games\freespace2.  Most likely you installed to your desktop or something like like my documents.   Check to see where it's installed.
