What new ships are going to be icluded in TBP?
Godspeed all pilots!
-
EA - Babylon 5 station
dry dock/shipyard
icarus scout ship
cotton class long range tenderexplorer class ship
cargo lifter/ construction starfury
NR - t'loth assault cruiser
space station?
CR - space station?
DRAKH - battleship
shuttle?
VREE - various flying saucers?
STRIBE - scout cruiser???
VORLONS & SHADOWS - battleship/battlecrab, fighters, scouts, vorlon transport?
A list based on http://www.b5tech.com
Propably almost everything on B5 races and ships (http://www.b5tech.com) confused:
Thanks for TBP staff for making such an awesome game!!!!!!!!!
-
:welcome:
I guess B5 is in the next release...
-
Only time will tell.
-
With the Vorlons, Shadows and B5 model coming soon the rest of the ships are only a small make-up, which would give even more depth to the missions and fun for players...
Star bases for Narn & Centauri - never saw them with my own eyes...:sigh:
I personally think that with the upcoming release there will be about 85% of the ships that ever appeared in the B5 tv show...
In other words- awesome... ;7
Especially the Shadows...
-
We also need the narn transport ship for the FRED accademy campaign. THIS (http://www.b5tech.com/narn/narnships/narnfighters/narntransport.html) one.
Oh, and a Soul Hunter ship would be cool if anyone wanted to remake the 1st contact between the MF and EA.

 Sooner the better, but I'm not rushing nobody :D
-
This Narn commercial transport appeared in IFH: Danger and Opportunity prequel campaign....
In the second mission near Va'Than VII it tried to ram and destroy the jamming suite aboard PSI Corp. modified Nova with mass driver... (and we had to stop it; otherwise - game over :D )
-
If there is any ships I would absolutely kill to have appear in the next release, they would be the Octurion and Rutarian. The Octurion's mesh is already done, IIRC.
-
i would like to see all the narn ships esp the Bin'tak, but i'm in no hurry.
-
New ships are probably going to be about three weeks. Since I'm tied up with RW voice acting. Unless someone else in the team decides to do some work :P
-
If a new official build of SCP is released, are you gonna try to get the Whitestar player-flyable? Very recent builds now have support for multiple primaries on the player ship, which was one of the stumbling blocks to the Whitstar. Of course, securing Gunship AI, or the ships flag I proposed that would make a craft targettable by huge and/or big ship weapons, would be even better.
-
WS is already player flyable.
And if people haven't noticed, the 7T7 aka Skylark is also flyable.
-
That explains why it uses fighter AI, but that ship looks awful weird manuvering like a fighter.
-
Transports can be flyable, but every hostile in the entire mission will attack you if you're flying a transport, even other transports.
-
It's not using frieghter AI, though, I saw that in Raider Wars. The Skylark's trying to manuver like a fighter and failing.
-
Following up with cannon ships a Victory Class Destroyer would be cool , altought i dont know if that vorlon main gun is doable in FS2... and i still have doubts about its size, 2 or 3 kms?
-
The guns for the CR Rutarian assault fighter are already implemented in the game... The Sentri unfortunately can't carry them... So I guess the Rutarian someday eventaually will appear...
;) :ha:

Release 2 was like when i was in my junior year of highschool or was it Sophomore year? I can't remember any more.
Any how nice ship models.
sorry guys i didn't go and learn the modeling program maya like i promised many years ago.
-
Another of my stupid questions..
How i can enable the turret of the Badger Starfury?
-
I think that the turret is "automatic"... It fires at any hostile while he is in the rear sphere of your craft... 70 degrees in every side...
It doesn't fire when the enemy attacks
at other angles/ sides of your craft...
The turrets on skylark work just the same ( although they have a different firing area )...
Hope that helps a bit...:)
-
The Badger turret fires at your current target, if it can. Otherwise it will shoot at anything in sight.
But you don't hear the gunfire from your turret.

Including friendly ships?

If they happen to be in front of an enemy ship...yes.

What about empty space?

Badger´s rear gunner: Arrrrr! I hate empty space!! die empty space.
Damn, having play X-Wing sinze 1995 really helps a lot with understoonding the computer AI

 ....that was hilarious.

If the model is placed in-game...
See the Got really bored thread...
:)
-
Shouldnt the support shuttle be replaced by this? (http://b5tech.com/babylonproject/b5cargobot/b5cargobot.html) or some robot we see flying around B5 fixing stuff.
A space suit. Plant nukes like In the Beginning or Thirdspace. Your only weapon is a PPG and you can die from one hit but fortunately you are a small and insignificant target.
-
Yes a space suit w/ jet pack would be nice. Go model one. ;7
Support should be done by that wierd little maint pod you linked and the maint fury. Go model them. ;7
-
In the show I got the impression, that the thing B5Tech called Camerabot (http://b5tech.com/babylonproject/b5cambot/b5cambot.html) is what you refer to as the maintanance bot, while the one in Fodders link was mostly seen carrying freight around.
-
That's a maint bot. It's called such in the show. I've never heard it referred to as a camera bot. Until now that is.
-
Exactly what I was thinking.
When I hear camera bot I think of the thing that constantly hit Lenier on the head :)
-
Is there more whitestar ship's, like advance whitestar and bluestar coming up? And the victory class ship?
Whitestar fan.
-
The only ships in the pipeline at the moment are:
Shadow Fighter
Shadow Cruiser
Vorlon Fighter
Vorlon Transport
Vorlon Cruiser
B5
-
But are those ships coming in the future?
-
Possibly but probably not. We don't have many active modellers or texture artists at the moment and whether a ship gets done depends entirely on whether it takes the fancy of a modeller and then a texture artist in that order. I can't see any of them doing that.
-
I remember seeing a (of the look of it) complete model of an Octurion without textures in the screenshot section of the old website, quite long ago (back on firstones).
What happened to it?
-
Oh yes. Octurion. A personal favourite of mine. Tomcat took an interest in that one and did a fantastic model. Unfortunately nobody wanted to texture it. Unsurprising really, it's huge. You need to be really enthusiastic to tackle something that size. Puts what CptWhite and Stithe did with B5 into perspective.
-
Wasn't the T'Loth on the short-term agenda too? I've said it before, but here are ships I'd like to see included in at least the next few releases (not already mentioned by IPAndrews):
T'Loth
Narn Transport
Centauri Transport (seen in "The Coming of Shadows")
Soul Hunter ship
Minbari Glider Transport (seen in "In The Beginning")
Perhaps one of the Vree saucers
-
Well if we're discussing what we'd like to see rather than what we are likely to see... I'd like to see the Vree saucers, and Centauri blockade mine. I did the geometry for those so I have a vested interest in seeing them in-game.
Oh and if Tomcat comes up with a list based on the same criteria it's likely to be a long one.
-
What happened to the pirate ship from the fs2 code? Now it's just a beacon. Maybe it should be replaced with Sinclair's duck.
-
Duck?
-
How about a teddy bear with the initials "J.S." on it?
-
We have actually already decided what it will be. It's high-poly. It's big. It's adult content. It's t*m**t's ****.
Cookie to whoever figures it out.
-
I've figured it out, but I'll let someone else win the cookie.

Duck?
Its an old joke on some newsgroup. Back in season 1, fans were complementing Ivanova's t*ts. As a spoof, others began discussing about Sinclair's d*ck. JMS then joked, "Hey! How did you find out about that? We weren't supposed to introduce Sinclair's duck until season 3!" and "The Minbari surrendered because in some episode we'll see someday the Earth had developed a giant killer space duck hidden on the dark side of the moon that would nibble the Minbari homeworld to destruction."
A pic of the duck can be seen here. (http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/guide/110.html)

Thanks :D

LOL :D
that duck is the ultimate technollogichal terror

Corpses.
Have them floating around hangar doors.

About the WhiteStar, how are you going to get the beam/proton pulse working? If you remember, the Whitestar can fire little yellow proton bolts, or concentrate energy on making the proton bolts become a focused beam. Sometimes, you will need to disable, not destroy a target.
-
I'm not entirely sure to what you are referring. If you can link pictures of this weapon being used in it's two different forms that would be helpful.
-
It's easier to see in real life. Do you have the season three disk two? If you do, then watch the episode that casts Dr. Kirkish in one of the first scenes.
If you don't then listen up. The Whitestar is against a Shadow ship, and is attacking with both purple blasts from the engine wings and a few yellow spherical blasts from the tip, slightly less often as the purple ones. When they find out that the weapons aren't doing anything to the Shadow ship, the Whitestar "fires the protons in a focused beam". The focused beam is what the Whitestar normally uses, since it is the most effective way to destroy something, despite heightened energy usage.
It would be nice if we could choose how to attack, as it is nice to be able to save energy or attack an enemy and disable it without destroying it.
-
I believe our Whitestar has all those weapons.
-
Later you see a lot of whitestars firing the bolt- and beamweapons at the same time.
In "into the fire" for example, when they attack the vorlon outpost.
Since the Whitestar was at the begin of season 3 a prototype and mostly untested, I guess that they upgraded it later on, so it's possible to use all weapons at the same time.
-
Have any of you actually tried flying the Whitestar included in the 3.0 - 3.1 release?
-
So are you saying that there are FOUR primary weapons? Two purple proton spheres, a yellow proton sphere, and a yellow proton beam? AT THE SAME TIME?!? Neat!
-

WhiteStars have three main types of weapons.
1) Main beam - The green beam that we see firing from the centerline station
2) Green/Yellow pulses - Mounted above and behind the main beam weapon
3) Blue/Puprle pulses - Four small weapons (two each side) that are yellow/greenish in color.
Sometimes I think the colors alternate depending on which animator did the scene.
-
This ship model has 2 player operated weapons:
1-2 pulse neutron cannons
2-4 light pulse fusion cannons
The main neutron beam is turret AI controlled...
-
The neutron beam should not be AI controled. If the Nial has a player beam, then why shouldn't the Whitestar? Besides, the Neutron beam is not turreted in the show.
-
Because at the time the model was made, three primaries wasn't possible.
-
It still isn't possible in a stable release of the game engine. Once it is I will ship the necessary upgrade.
If that's not good enough I suggest downloading a new build of the game engine, PCS, and editting the pof yourself. It's hardly rocket science. Delete the turret and place a primary point at the location where the turret was.
-
Not exactly easy. First, you have to also add a secondary firepoint and appropriate table entry, since ATM... FSO won't accept a ship without secondaries. Just give the bank an allowed of and 0 cappacity. Secondly, both myself and others who have attempted this, have run into an odd problem... when attempting to fire the main beam, all you see is the beamglow, but no beam. Others have reported that the impact effect and dammage is still visible, but my efforts have not yielded the same result. Also, for some reason, n'either MODview n'or PCS will allow you to move the eyepoint to where the bridge is. By default, it places it directly between the forward cannon pair. Couple that with the old bug that will not count beam kills to the player. If you're flying a Nial and you take out any ships with your beams, you won't get credit for it.
While I'm posting (and as this seems like the right thread to ask this in), I was thinking back to some of the Narn ships and one question popped into my mind. If you've ever seen "Walkabout", you may remember that during a meal with G'Kar (after discussing the Sweedish Meat-Ball paradox), War Leader Na'Kal gives a list of the various Narn ships that have been recovered, rescued, and repaired. He mentions Heavy cruisers, medium warships, one other I can't remember, but he also says "Dreadnaughts". Now, is this a class of Narn ship we've seen before or not? Would this be bigger than a G'Quan class, or merely an antiquated class designation for some of the older ships in service? If the general consensus is that this is a not-yet-seen design, would the TBP team be open to finding a suitable fan or non-canon design for the class?
-
I believe Na'Kal refers to the Bin'tak warships? G'Quans, Th'nors, T'loths and Bin'taks were the Narn vessels.
IIRC, the Bin'tak was from B5Wars.
-
My friend has a copy of the tabletop game, "A Call to Arms". I bet that he could find the largest Narn token and get its name.
-
With so many new models underway this thread can become quickly obsolete...
Awesome work TBP guys... ;7
-
Could someone from the TBP staff give a glimpse of insight on ships that will propably appear in TBP 3.3, please?
-
And some insight on future plans?
-
EG a cockpit view for more realism

Dont put too much trust on the ship designations in the series. For example; Omega was called cruiser in season 2... He propably mentioned dreadnaught because it sounded cool. Besides. Bin'tak was designed after the second Centauri occupation, as I understand...
-
a cockpit view would be seriosly cool.. (i have to wath less TopGear :D ) but .. it is possible¿?

Take a look at the My "little" WIP Topic (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,33632.0.html) Thread.
I guess many on those will be in the next release.
-
You will find probably the bluestar,Victory(excalibur),centauri rutarian fighter to name a few.
-
ACTA:
The largest Narn token is the Bin'tak Dreadnaught.
-
It's worth downloading the next release for the Victory destroyer alone. It's simply amazing seeing that thing in action.
-
Where "?" stands = I'm not sure...
Where ";7" stands = Oh boy that thing is huge ( it will kill my computer:sigh: , but I like it :) )
(Based on all posts in TBP forums that showed something is more or less under development ;) )
EA:
Avenger?
Poseidon?
Cotten class tender?
Explorer?
Tiger starfury?
cargo bot
NR:
Bin'tak
T'loth
Gorith?, Toreth?
Centauri:
Rutarian
Octurion?
Brakiri:
Tashkat?
Falcosi?
Vree:
Xorr
Xill
ISA:
Victory
Bluestar
Drakh:
Mothership ;7
Vorlon:
Planetkiller ;7
Dreadnought?
Please confirm whether I'm wrong or not ...

Will the new Minbari space station model from When the Darkness Falls Campaign included in TBP 3.3?
It's called Minbari trading post
