No, I am not trolling.
I just want to know how many are still working on this project, what is left to be done, why its taking so long, and what I can do to help.
totally not trolling.
-
kara was waiting for another project he was doing, or something.
-
Yeah. That and the fact that most of the team seem to be busy with other stuff too. I am very slowly making progress but unless there are talented FREDders sitting around with nothing to do then MG is going to progress only when I find time to work on it.
-
Are you looking for freders or is it not a huge deal? :wtf:
-
If FREDders want to apply I'm more than happy to bring them on board. I only take qualified FREDders though. Don't have time to train up newbies here.
-
Would 4 months work count me as a newbie?
-
I judge based on mission quality as that's the only fair way. So if you have some missions you can show me I'll take a look. If you want to get a more objective view of your FREDding skills try the FRED Academy (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,125.0.html). :)
-
thx. I'll post something up in a bit.
-
Now that we've had some major releases..3.6.10, port stuff etc, is this and other projects going to be kickstarted again? It seems reasonable that the more talented people would have some more free time now..well not exactly now (Christmas you know), but at the beginning of next year.
-
Diaspora is currently keeping me very busy. It really does seem that every time I get started working on MindGames there's some major problem with the BSG mod within a week and I get dragged back to working on that.
-
It's quite a pity this project is now archived. I hope this is a temporary setback only though.
I still hope to see the starborn one day. :)
-
It is temporary. Diaspora is keeping me very busy at the moment but that won't always be the case. :)
-
Excellent news! ;)
-
I am personally more looking forward to Diaspora than MG >.>
-
I am personally more looking forward to MG than Diaspora. :nervous:
-
I agree with Goober, and I find it very hard to believe... :wtf: ;)
FreeSpace-related projects have a better audience in terms of feedback (most community members are available to post immediate comments) while stuff like TCs lures a completely different kind of people.
-
Yeah, I've found the BtRL/Diaspora fan bases are a lot different.
-
If you looked at GW before the great schism the entire board was dead except for the BtRL and Starfox boards which were teeming with activity.
-
Yeah. What was GW, where did it come from?
-
http://www.game-warden.com/forum/
BtRL is a bit less active now, but in its heyday, there were a whole ****load of members who went to the BtRL board and disregarded everything else.
-
No, I'm saying why was GW created in the first place?
-
Originally as an FS forum I'm pretty sure.
-
 To what end? Didn't HLP fill the void?
-
Dunno. I think it was more of a 'gaming' forum, but with FS at the center. Or something. I dunno. Don't ask me.
-
colecampbell666, what do you mean? Why are you somewhat implying that there should be only one FreeSpace fansite? As far as I'm concerned there can be a virtually unlimited number of fanbases. I even mourn the loss of GTD Bastion and Hades Combine... :(
-
GTD Bastion... I liked their forum icons and layout.
-
That site was nice. :)
-
I'm just curious as to where GW came from. Why did it start? For what specific purpose?
What was the URL of GTD Bastion?
-
At the time HLP wasn't accepting new hosted projects. It was something of an experiment to see if we could get people to join the existing hosted projects rather than starting their own.
It didn't work particularly well and it opened up a market for other sites to host projects. There were a few others that popped up around the same time but GW was the only one with any staying power.
-
Oh.
-
Did the same happen to Sectorgame?
-
No, that started out as a Descent community IIRC, and expanded to FS as well.
-
Did they host Descent projects at the beginning?
-
IIRC.
-
SectorGame is older than HLP.
-
:bump:
First off I'm not trolling. The proposed plot for this mod looks very interesting. Is it currently on hold until other things are finished?
-
Yeah. That and the fact that most of the team seem to be busy with other stuff too. I am very slowly making progress but unless there are talented FREDders sitting around with nothing to do then MG is going to progress only when I find time to work on it.
-
Karajorma is here... but what about Geezer?
-
He pops in occasionally.
But Geezer was only ever the ideas guy. The remaining team are either in the wind or around but busy. DaBrain and Cannonfodder are busy with Diaspora (amongst other things), Miburo is busy with Tales EAS Janus, and Singh is AWOL.
I'm pretty sure I have enough in the way of mods and stuff to actually make MG but I don't have the time to FRED it until Diaspora R1 is out of the way.
-
You should get all the team mates back or, at least, try to recruit new people. Doing that solo may be too much, IMO.
-
There's little point in recruiting until I have some time to devote to it myself.
-
As far as I remember this project, the writing was done, wasn't it? You needed some mods and a lot of FREDding. Is that correct?
-
Yep. If you fancy coming back to join us TopAce I certainly won't complain. :) It will still be a while before I can find the time to get started again though.
-
Well, I've been thinking about joining again, but I haven't reached a decision yet. I've got a couple of things ahead of me that require my full attention, but I'll drop a PM if I do make a decision.
-
He pops in occasionally.
*Pop!* :P
-
Hooray!
-
:D
-
Miburo is busy with Tales EAS Janus
I have always been here... And yet I am never here :wtf:
Well Janus wont be a problem anymore, since I closed it down. However it doesn't mean that I would have any more of time to spare than before. I do miss MG and I hoped to see release some day, but sadly my time doesn't permit to aid anymore :(
-
Yeah, that's understandable. I think once Diaspora R1 is out I'll hold a casting call and see if I can attract a few new people to work on MG. I'd do that now but I haven't even got time to manage another team, let alone do any actual work.
-
This was most fun FS2 project I ever was involved and of course I am willing to help in any way I can, but I don't believe its going to happen in FREDing form, maybe one or two missions tops. However give me a howl when you start pulling this together again.
-
Certainly will do Miburo. :)
-
True! Mind games is possibly on of the most appealing, yet atypical FS projects out there storywise. It will be great to see it when ready.
Also, miburo, despite the verdict, I wanted to thank you regarding janus. However, if it does not work today, perhaps in the future, it will be different... certain persons in the FSCRP have expressed interest regarding janus (both 1 and 2)
the campaign restoration project will eventually run out of FS campaigns to restore... And when they do... ;7
In the meantime, I'll be keaping that script for janus 2 very safely.
-
I think this will be released this year. Definitely.

Dayum how many posts have you made today? :P
-
But hasn't it been fun? ;7
