Re: What are you playing right now?
Picked up Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition again, to finally finish off Ada's Separate Ways campaign.  I have a backlog of 4 or 5 Wii games I haven't even touched yet, so I figured it's time to get back on the thing.

Trying to make Civ II Test of Time work because I missed the scifi campaign. Curse you, Beyond Earth.

I don't think I ever finished this game. It was interesting enough that I remembered it all these years later though.

Currently in the Willies, being attacked by the Willies.

Because the Willies are still the best terrain type ever and I wish stuff like them appeared in more sci-fi.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Gathering materials for a campaign I'm going to be running for BattleTech.  It's going to be the first real campaign I run as a Demo Agent, once I finish the application process.  It's going to encompass all levels of the BattleTech ruleset.

Beginning of the campaign, the PCs will be an infantry squad on Atreus in 3077, cut off from friendly and enemy alike and working together to link up with others that don't want to shoot them.  Will eventually progress to standard BattleTech scale, once the PCs have a large enough group to warrant it (i.e. a 'Mech, or more than a couple light vehicles, or more than a platoon of infantry [obviously into squads, first]).  By the end of the campaign, it'll be conducted in Alpha Strike scale, with a (hopefully) battalion on Level III (battalion equivalent) battle in the streets of Atreus.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Perhaps you can conquer the pervasive Battletech problem of not actually being very much fun as a game. I am genuinely optimistic.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Have you played Alpha Strike?  It's significantly more streamlined and fun to play than normal BattleTech rules when there's more than three or four units per side.

Then again, I'd also counter that the game is not intrinsically unfun.  Mechanically cumbersome in large games, absolutely.  Not very fun?  Entirely subjective.

Picked up the Gothic series. I remember playing the first one ages ago but never finished it, so I figured I'd remedy that.

Picked up the Gothic series.

The first one is pretty awesome, though it may not have aged very well in terms of graphics and controls ... The second one is good but it doesn't come close to the first storywise ...

For the third entry you should be sure to pick up the community patches; the Devs and Publisher tried so hard to be beat Elder Scrolls at it's own game that came of it is a mess, the community did a good job at saving the whole endavour after the conflict between the Devs and Publisher killed further official patches...

As for Forsaken Gods and Arcania: both are a mess - partially due to the fact that they are nothing but attempts of publisher to cash in on the franchise as much as possible; don't bother with those
"As you sought to steal a kingdom for yourself, so must you do again, a thousand times over. For a theft, a true theft, must be practiced to be earned." - The terms of Nyrissa's curse, Pathfinder: Kingmaker

"I am Curiosity, and I've always wondered what would become of you, here at the end of the world." - The Guide/The Curious Other, Othercide

"When you work with water, you have to know and respect it. When you labour to subdue it, you have to understand that one day it may rise up and turn all your labours into nothing. For what is water, which seeks to make all things level, which has no taste or colour of its own, but a liquid form of Nothing?" - Graham Swift, Waterland

I'll keep all that in mind, thanks! I'm in the last third of the first game I think, so far I quite like it in terms of atmosphere and story.

Well, I played Arcania. Not stellar, but if you forget it's supposed to be Gothic, and not think too hard about it, it can be fun. Graphics sure are nice, and while the story gets silly sometimes (the beginning, in particular), it's not terrible if you don't take it too seriously. It can be very cheap on Steam sometimes, it might be worth getting on 75% off sale or something like that.
