I've gone over some options already, but I'm looking to
cobble together a game patch and need to put together an
installer that will just overwrite some files and I'm looking for suggestions
on software.

Basically I'd like to be able to put a license agreement, just a welcome
and finish dialog. Being able to insert a banner would be a bonus as would
file compression.

Another modder long ago made a installer which added files directly to archives
which would be useful and save a lot of file space, but I don't know what he used
and don't have a way of asking either.

So far I've already tried the built in Windows iExpress, but it seems unstable
when run on other systems. So I'm left with either WinRar SFX or probably
something more robust as I'd really rather have a GUI than scripting. If it
could be something with more advanced features, it would be nice to be able
to learn it and have available later too.

Any ideas?

I think they still have a free version with a nag screen.

Interesting... and not as much the installer as the patch maker
if it works by comparing two files. That would save me 200 MB easily.

Thanks I'll look into it some more.

I also have found this...
