Yeah.  I remember when I first combat tested that science vessel.  My first thought was, research by force of arms?  But that also reminds me.  That science vessel would go great in chapter 5, and I've noticed you've kind of revised some of your older work. How about it?:)

Dude...  That's all I got to say,,, Dude...
The first one for the colony ship, without a doubt.  However, with some slight modifications, the second could be another support ship I'm in need of.  Add two docking arms like the ones on the Ganymede and a large "bin" fill asteroid stuff and it could be used as a factory ship.  As for the factory, I was imagining something of similar size to the colony ship.
What's the armaments on the first one and the actual size?

I have to say, your work thus far has been astronomically helpful.  You alone have probably single handedly increased the release date of chapter 4 by several months.:D

Well the size is not set. Those are just hulls... they have no weapons yet.

The first one I thougt to be a colony ship that land on a planet and is deployed as a outpost... that's why it's so stangely shaped... It has no hangarbay...yet....

The second one is a croos between a colony ship and a liner.
THIS is my civilian Liner:

The civilian liner could be just as useful for me.  As you can imagine, transporting some six million civilians would not be an easy task.

dude, that'd be one farking big ship. Even if it was Colossus size or bigger (which would be insane for a Civilian ship) The logistics of a ship that big with that many people would be murder.

make it a small fleet a smaller ships me thinks.

dunno, most of the time, civilian ships are bigger then military ones.

also, who says the won't have a big farmland in the middle?

Make it like a Culture GSV (from Iain M. Banks books). Completely self-contained, between 30 and 200km long, and 'ard as nails. Almost like a small planet, 'cept it moves about and can kill stars! :D

uh.. when is this?

And yes you could have a big farmland in the middle, but for 6 million people? He might as well build a mini death star and put it in Freespace.

Seems way outta character for FS to me, but that's just my opinion. I think a small fleet of colony ships would be a lot cooler. Each of them 1500m long, holding 3000 people or so. have 200 hundred of them, and you can play around with the plot alot more (some die off, some break done, some go where ever, etc. )

A 2000m long Heacate destroyer has 10000 crew. and a 1500m long Colony ship can carry only 3000 people...

The civ liner should be Destroyer-size..maby a bit bigger....max 3000m...

the colony ships could be larger....far larger....8000m....

Anyway, these are just the hulls...... quickly textured....
But I do think the'll remain more or less the same..

well I never siad those were exact figures, it's not my campaign :doubt:

I'm just saying, having a civilian juggernaught big enough to carry 6 million people or whatever you said would have to be huge. IMO the only way I could see it happen is if you have the GTVA military slaughtered and all hope lost, so you evacuate the best people throughout the worlds on one uber-evac ship.

This may be the case in your story, but I haven't really kept up with it, so yea.

EDIT: oh you're talking about Liners? Well how big are todays carnival cruise liners? I'd say compare it to the size of a carrier (carrier = GTVA Destroyer) and you got your length. Dunno if it's longer or shorter or not though.

Colony ships could be Jugg size, but 6 million is a lot of people.

Well, let me sort some things out here.  As the story goes, fifteen colony ships originally landed on Capella, and they stayed there.  Some freaky paranoid governor decided to keep the colony ships able to launch again from Capella, should a crisis ever arise.  Low and behold, the Shivans comes and the ships are used to evacuate.  The nine colony ships in my story line were the last ones to take off from Capella but didn't make it and had to jump to Gamma Draconis.
Now you also have to remember that colony ships aren't warships.  They don't need massive magazines of ammunition, immense hangar bays, ultra thick plates of armour, and extensive command and control units.  People, food, and construction supplies only.  Of course the six million people would not all be aboard the colony ships; civilian liners, Tritons, Argos and likes could be used as well.

Large asteroids actually.  But for the most part Gamma Draconis was filled with stations using modular construction techniques.  They were powered down so that the Shivans would not detect them and reactivated once the Shivans left Gamma Draconis after the Capella incident.  They weren't interested in it anymore, its just empty space after all.
