Title: Frozen title screen
Post by: Disease on May 27, 2007, 10:13:26 pm
'ello,

well, the title says everything. The game just freezes once I reached the game title screen.  I'm using the 3.3 client.

Graphic card drivers are somewhat new. Firewall (Kerio) was disabled aswell as enabled, didn't change a thing.

System:
Intel Dual Core 6400
2 GB DDR2 800 Ram
Ati XT1950XTX 512 MB

Suggestions, anyone?

This has been brought up before on another forum, I think it has to do with your dual core rig, there is a fix, i`m not sure how to do it though.  :(

Do a search on the HLP forums, it may help you.

If someone here knows the thread i`m refering to, they could maybe give you a link, i`m a caveman when it comes to linking and such.  :nervous:

(edit)  It could also be a combination of the FSO build your using, and dual core. But first check on the dual core thing.  :)

Hm. Thanks so far. I searched the forums right now but I couldn't find anything about a dual core fix, actually it seems like the dual core thingy was more sort of a problem in the previous releases.

I`m sorry I couldn`t be of much help..
Try posting this on the scp forum, that should give you insights on the freezing problem.

Eh, set the affinity:  You open task manager (ctrl+alt+del), right-click on the program, hit "go to process", right-click on the selected process, hit "set affinity", and choose a processor core.

Source Code Project = SCP - they upgrade the FS engine.  Find them here:

EDIT: You guys have 3.3, or 3.3a?  3.3a is the latest stable release.

How should I set the affinity when the games is frozen? You know, frozen.. that means I can't alt+tab and ctrl+alt+del.

I used 3.3 - testing 3.3a later, even thogh I doubt it will work.

TBP is based on the FSOpen game engine. If the game engine is freezing, that's a problem with the game engine. Take it to the SCP forums. Under no circumstances should the game engine just freeze, or for that matter just crash. It should always exit gracefully with a useful error message.

Try running 3.6.9 engine on it?  or 3.6.7?  Try different engines, they are found http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/latest

No, don't do that. Running random game engines is not the answer. Use the game engine that was provided in the download, or is suggested in the installation instructions.

I have found sometimes that it works... *shrugs*  The newer builds have bugfixes, but sometimes also raise their own issues.

Weird. But well, it seems like it's working now. I used the debuge-mode exe and the game is running now.
