I downloaded and playing through The Babylon Project. It was really fun, although the ships were sure hard to hit! I don't know anything of the Babylon universe so I'm curious about the ending. I don't want to spoil it in case someone hasn't played through yet, but I'm sure if you played it, you'll know what I'm talking about. Will the Manbari's decision at the end be explained in some later campaigns?

The  reasons for the decision of the Minbari is explained in the TV series, which you should watch. For a long time, the exact reasons for their decision are a mystery in the series - and an important part of the overall plot, too, so I don't really want to spoil the surprise. All I have to say, it has to do with the reason why Babylon 5 is fifth in the series of Babylon stations...

If you don't want to watch the entire season 1 + start of season 2 to understand just watch Babylon 5 : In the Beginning as they explain it there too. It also makes a damn fine introduction to the series if you're not certain whether or not you want to watch the whole thing.

It does make a good introduction, if you keep in mind that the series is even better than that film.

As a whole yes, but if is someone isn't sure they'll like the show enough to watch a whole season I'd rather start them off with In the Beginning than The Gathering. The first few episodes are a little weak.

On the other hand if they are going to watch the whole season they'll forgive Infection and TKO after watching Babylon Squared, A Voice in the Wilderness or, especially, Chrysalis.

Season 1 is decent enough.  I would say if anything, it's the first half to three quarters that are a little painful at times with the exception of some episodes such as the first episode "Midnight on the Firing Line", "Soul Hunter" (which really is a setup for the whole Earth-Minbari plot line), "Mind War" (introduction to Bester), "And the Sky Full of Stars" (a damn good episode), and "Signs and Portents" which also happens to be the name of Season 1 (and believe me, this is THE episode where you start to glimpse things being set in motion).

There are a few other episodes that are okay.  I wouldn't really skip them as these are character development episodes which, while seemingly boring and filler at first, have big payoffs later on, I.E. "Born to the Purple", Episode 3 of Season 1, is a character development for Londo Mollari.  This largely boring episode may seem a bit pointless....... Until Season 3 episode "Interludes and Examinations", where some bad **** goes down.

Either way, if you're looking forward to seeing B5, but you're not sure about risking all of Season 1, "In the Beginning", is a great way to start since it ties directly into the main series, yet requires no knowledge of B5 to appreciate it, unlike say, "A Call to Arms" in which you'd be lost.  Also, be sure to avoid the "River of Souls" at all costs.  "Thirdspace" is okay, but don't watch it until you've at least seen one third to one half of Season 4.

I tend to agree. The big drawback of watching In the Beginning first is that you spoiler yourself for the big mystery of season 1. i.e why the Minbari surrendered at the Battle of the Line.

But since that was the very question rhraziel wanted answered I think it's okay in this case.
