"Designed to counter destroyer- and juggernaut-class threats, the GVB Maahes is a new addition to the Imperial bomber fleet. The Maahes's gargantuan secondary weapon bays provide offensive capabilities unprecedented in the GVTA. Enhanced shield technologies and tri-layered polymer hull plating provide substantial defensive protection. Nevertheless, the bomber's slow speed and poor maneuverability necessitate vigilant fighter escort if it is to deliver its devastation upon its target."
Originally a design by Dark, Galactic Emperor and Sesquipedalian recreated it for the Scrolls of Atankharzim. By Goober's request, I made this new high-poly version and we are releasing it to the community. The assymetric design sold it to me, I hope you enjoy it too!

Weird, but in a good Vasudan-y way.

Behold The Zod Space Trilobite.
-
Very cool! Also vaguely reminds me of a B-Wing with the cockpit at the other end :)
-
Dear Scroll, I'd love a high-poly Mekhet and you clearly have the skill. pls2mod for me. Kthx.
-
I wonder if pilots will like it but bomber looks great :)
Highlight it!

Really? Well, if you say so... I had no idea anyone cared. :)

O nais, can't believe i missed this for two whole days!
-
I love darks stuff.
Apollo advance?
-
This is a very nice model. Although that protrusion on the cockpit pod does look way too much like part of a fish.

B-Wing inspired?

I assume you're asking if someone is going to HTL the Apollo Advanced model? It's always possible, but we're not using that ship for Scroll. In fact, I wouldn't know where to find the original Apollo Advanced model, as it isn't on Dark's old site.
B-Wing inspired?
Very likely.
By the way, here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=15187.0) is the original announcement (back in 2003) that Galemp had recreated the Maahes for this mod. Note that this was only an announcement; the original standard-poly model was not released at that time.
We do still have the standard poly model in case anyone wants to use it.

There's so much to like here. The modelled gunports around the cockpit are really cool, particularly their location relative to the cockpit, the trilateral symmetry of the weapons pod, the clever use of greebles in the same area - it really looks good. If I had one small gripe, I would have like to have seen a tiny bit more colour variation for the textures on those greebles - just varying their shade of grey relative to the rest of the model would have been enough. But, as I said, that's a tiny issue compared with the overall result, which is fantastic. :)
To me, the cool thing about it is that it's such an unusual shape and convenient size that I have no problem imagining it in roles that are probably a long way from expected. I'd love a mission where a half dozen of these things are trying to attach themselves onto the side of a destroyer to burn through the hull and either disgorge Vasudan marines or just leave a hole for transports coming right behind them. Or, hell, if they're attaching to the side of the hull, why not let that little cockpit break off as its own teeny tiny ship (it has that engine after all), and then have the rest of the ship blow up behind him, like a limpet mine?
Anyway, I think it's a great mesh with lots of potential uses. So stoked to have more quality Vasudan stuff. :)

Thanks for your review BlackWolf. I hope the model gets used!

Oh, and nice ship BTW.

Glad to hear it. :D Check the Scroll of Atankharzim website download page; both the high-poly and low-poly models can be downloaded from there.

Authentically Vasudan indeed. Thats amazing man!!! Just curious, what software did you use to make that model?
-
I used Blender for the model and GIMP and Krita for the textures. They're all free if you want to get into modeling. :)
-
Reminds me of the Outrider from Star Wars flipped horizontally and given a Vasudan theme. Great model. :)
