Oh, and the Ringworld would have to be a custom background, not just a model. That thing would encircle the star it's centered around.

You're also forgetting the quotes in Duke Nukem that came out of Heartbreak Ridge:

That's not exactly true though. I've said it already, this thing makes a perfect Halo but wouldn't touch Ringworld. That ring encircled its star, which this one quite clearly does not. That plus the fact that the textures and everything else make that the Halo ring makes it necessary to identify it as we all have. Now it would be great if someone would whip up a background POF that actually had the ringworld in it.

You'd be right - I realised about 4:30am that I was out by a factor of 1000 because I wasn't thinking.

I've resized it now, but I've not tried sticking it in the game. :)

I always think of Ringworld first when I see these sort of things but this is obviously too small and hasn't got any shadow squares.
Besides considering the power of the ringworld defense system who'd be crazy enough to stick that in a game of Freespace! :D

Besides I don't anyone ever tried firing the laser at another star system but if message lasers can reach one star system from another I see no reason that this one can't :D

but in The Maw its well over 15 km long with a built in canyon and plenty of ramps for the marines to show off their mad warthog skills with only 1 ground to space aircraft in its rear bay

Err.. no. The Pilar is (by the scale and supposed to be) around 2.2km. But either the scale is way off to the warthog in game, or it goes really, really slow. Hell, I could run 2.2km in 10 minutes.

And it was already established both in the book (The Fall of Reach) and by Cortana in game that that wasn't the only Longsword Fighter, but the only one left

EDIT: despite the Maw weirdness, I'd make the PoA about the size of a Hecate, maybe slightly longer.
