Bug in Psamtik's AI

(1/1)

chris5901:
Not sure if its a bug or intentional but the Psamtik's AI in The Roman's Blunder doesn't seem to be able to target the Glorious and Impervious (A Fenris and a Leviathan class cruiser respectively) with any weapons other than its flak guns, causing it to loose the fight. I've also tried the mission in the normal campaign, and whilst its main beam cannons (appear to be missing from the model all together for the mission) don't fire its other weapons do allowing it to win the fight. Playing on Elite difficulty if that matters.

Grizzly:
The Psamtik doesn't use its main beams in that fight for some reason no, it's a reason why the techroom entry is the way it is :)

However, it actually losing the fight is definitely a bug. Can you tell me what build you are playing on?

Colonol Dekker:
Zod scum, refusing to fight effectively to preserve the GTVA way of life is grounds for treason.

It's the most up to date stable release version of SCP, and v3.3.3 of Blue planet complete. I don't spend enough looking at the builds to give you more detail than that. If you can tell me how to generate a log for you i'll get that done.

In terms of the main beams, flying around the Psamtik is both retail and Blue Planet version its' main beam weapons are "unused" when targeted. I guess the devs intentionally removed them?

This mission in retail inspired this nifty piece of BP-lore:

--- Quote ---Warships such as the Psamtik would safe their main beams, divert the power to subspace drive recharge, and close to destroy NTF vessels with anti-fighter beams, flak, and salvos of fusion mortars. The tactic harmed NTF morale, since it was clear the destroyers were more concerned with getting to the next fight than anything else.
