Title: Problem getting the Port working
Post by: adm-frb on September 21, 2007, 08:22:12 pm
This may be a very stupid question.

I just installed FSPort into FS_Open using Turey's installer. However, when I try to play it, All of the FS1 ships are missing (ie GTF Apollo etc) and I have the same problem with the weapons (ie the Subach HL-7 etc).

Instead, It substitutes the Apollo for the Ulysses and has the fighters unarmed. This makes it impossible for me to even get passed the first training mission.

How can I fix this?

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't installed FSPort and am about ready to go back to using my old retail version of FS1.

Umm... you didn't perchance dump the fsport directory into the FS2 root, did you?  You're supposed to run FSPort from the fsport directory as a mod.  (Use the MOD tab in the Launcher.)

I did use the MOD tab in the launcher.

Well then, did you create a new pilot for FSPort, or have you been playing several campaigns with just one pilot?

Or option 2, which actually sounds kinda silly. Did you remember to select the FS1 campaign from the Campaign room in the game? You might get some funky results if you try to play the FS2 main campaign with FSPort as your mod.

Yep

I installed the mod using Turey's installer, then selected it using the MOD tab in the Launcher. Finally, I did create a new pilot and selected the 'Main Freespace Campaign' and launched into the first mission.

Here's a list of everything I've noticed is not right.

1. No icons in mission briefing, other than the cargo containers.
2. When playing the mission, I'm flying the Ulysses instead of the Apollo. Also no weapons.
3. When playing the mission, it becomes an everlasting mission the moment I'm instructed to go full throttle.

Run the debug version of FSO, then look in the data folder and post the contents of fs2_open.log here.

I just thought of somethin. Check that \fsport\data\tables is empty. If you have the Media VPs, check that \mediavps\data\tables is also empty. If there are table files in those folders, they just might mess FSPort up.

I have no '\fsport\data\tables' folder. Likewise, I have no 'mediavps\data\tables' folder

And, here's a stupid question, but how do I run the the debug version of FSO?

A couple of minutes ago, I wondered if some of my other campaign mods might be interfering with fsport. So, I prevented the others from running. Guess what it worked. Damn, wish I'd thought of that yesterday.

THanks for your suggestions. If I have any futher probs, I'll let you know. :)

In the Launcher, you select the .exe that it is going to run (box on the top of the Launcher)... hit "Browse", and select the debug version of FSO.

What do you mean? You had the port selected, so how did you have the others running?
