I've pulled the cutscenes off the FS1 CDs and put them in the mod folder, and they work, but they're in 640x480 size rather than stretching to fill the entire screen.

What's your Launcher/Features/Graphics/Disable scale-to-window for movies setting?

Hmm, I'm to noobish to know anything else.

My mve folder is C:\Games\FreeSpace2\Fs1_port_3\data\movies, but that wouldn't have any effect I don't think.

Here is the fix:  in the Launcher, Features/Graphics, uncheck the 'disable scale-to-window for movies' checkbox.  That should do it, does for me.

Be sure to use OpenGL, since the D3D code just barely supports any of the movies, but particularly MVE and Theora.  D3D may not actually have the ability to scale the movies properly (I have never tried it).
