A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
That is if it is OK with folks...

Here's a preview:

It would of course be used for TBP DVD :)

Had to resort to the old "do it yourself" after the overwhelming response to my previos thread. LOL

Don't be so hasty...

I'll see if I can wrap something up... do you have some kind of a deadline?

Got a week at least, still waiting on updates from others.

Thanks for the help :)

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
Well, I don't quite know what kind of icon would be best for a DVD, but personally I find it awkward trying to fit text - even in logo form like "TBP" - in an icon; you have text below/next to the icon to tell you what it is, so the text-in-logo would be kinda redundant... the icon should be an image of some kind in my opinion, but finding a suitable screenshot is about as difficult as coming up with a well scalable logo that is comprehensible at 16x16 pixels

So I figured, what better for The Babylon Project's icon than...

16
32
48
64
128

and

256

for Vista (if necessary)

You might (or you might not) see some edges on the enhanced lighting, but small resolutions look fine already and this isn't exactly finished, I'm mostly gauging reactions... so would you like the icon to be an image, or more like a logo of some kind?

Coincidentally, my FS2_Open icon looks like this (depending on the size it's displayed on):

...and you'll notice that the Perseus is a lot better icon subject because it fills the square area a lot more than the Babylon 5 station.

Should I try with Aurora or Thunderbolt StarFury instead...? :)

WOW! Those are awesome!

A Thunderbolt would kick-ass!

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
Well, here are the StarFuries Thunderbolt and Escort Aurora:

16 (List/Detail view on Explorer)
32 (Standard size desktop icon, small icon view on Explorer)
48 (large icon, IIRC)
64 (larger icon, d'oh)
128 (preview icon size? I dunno, largest that WinXP supports)
256 (Vista, Macs and *nix's can use these giants)

Heh, nice squadron formations by the way...

I think the Aurora is better for a Babylon 5 game icon. It is, well, more iconic considering the show; Thunderbolts are awesome but Auroras saw a lot more screen action in the series and just for that reason I think either Aurora or the B5 station itself would be better than the Thunderbolt.

In a contest between B5 and Aurora, the StarFury stays better recognizeable and fills more of the limited space of the icon, but it's your call.

B5 gets my vote.

Agree with Vidmaster. First it looks freaking awesome (they all do, but love B5 in particular). And secondly, B5 represents more races than just the EA.

Though why not throw them all in the misc folder, personal taste can vary and it'd be a waste not to use such eyecandy.

B5. Though it's tough to call between that and the Aurora.

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
I thinking of doing a composite icon, use the B5 for the larger icons but it becomes very hard to make out in the smaller ranges so the starfurries could be use for the smaller ones.

They all look fantastic! and all will be on the DVD in one form or another.

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
Actually Hip that sounds like a perfect solution and we get to use both B5 and the Aurora that way.

Revised version of B5. Pick the one you like better.  :)

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
WOW! Just when you thought is could get any better :) ( I was trying to post when you posted this)  :eek2:

However I'm making one small (literally quite small ;)) concession, I'm going to use this guy: for the 16x16 icon because all the others are very hard to recognize that small. BUT ALL will be included on the DVD so customize however you like :)

Re: A New TBP Icon (perhaps)
Yeah, the 16p sized icons of these ships are pretty vague all right.

Just one more to add... for equal rites:

They don't work quite ideally on black background, but I won't lose my sleep over that. :P
