Question about Half Life 2
i have a question about Half Life 2, i was thinking of reinstalling it since i haven't played it since the game came out, but i got thinking, before you can play the game, you have to let steam and hl2 update themselves, now its been a few years since the game came out, am i gonna have wait hours for all the updates since the game came out to download because there are a few SP mods i have seen that look interesting?

:wtf:
Of course, downloading the whole game would take a while too...

Re: Question about Half Life 2
Well he was asking if he'd have to wait to download the patches - I was simply implying that if he got it out of the box, he would, if not, then the patches would be included in the download.

Re: Question about Half Life 2
why can't they release the patches so you can download them as exe's  or put them on magazine discs like everyone else does, so you can store them for future use i wouldn't have a problem, but its the fact that you also have to update steam as well, even though i dn't do online games i just want single player

Re: Question about Half Life 2
Steam isn't so bad as long as you have super-fast internet, like at a university. Unfortunately, there are still many parts of the US (I can't speak for other countries) that don't have any kind of broadband at all, and satellite doesn't count because it suck so hard. I hated Steam when I first used it because I had satellite at the time, and now I don't hate it as much because I go to college and get fast internet as part of my housing package.

So yes, the future is retarded. "They" should work on getting broadband available everywhere before they start inventing all kinds of stuff that depends so heavily on having a phat pipe. :p

Re: Question about Half Life 2
Steam is not the future - people will learn from the mistakes of Steam and make something hopefully much better.

I'll correct myself.

The basic idea is the future.

I think the thread could've ended right here. Nothing else really needs to be said. ;)
