Re: What are you playing right now?
Wait for Black Mesa to get their Xen figured out

Yeah, I do hope that there are more dead HEV team people/drop points in the Black Mesa version, because even in the original game, supply constraints and rationing started taking their toll (save for explosives and crossbow bolts).

I was thinking of starting a full HL replay one of these days, but I'm definitely not looking forward to Xen as a whole.

Thankfully, Focal Point (in Blue Shift) is FAR easier than the main game's Xen due to a straighter path, better landscaping and less frustrating enemies (you have no armor pickups, but all of your ammo won't be burned on that chapter). Opposing Force, well, you don't visit any parts of the Xen "mainlands."

^ Give a kid a stick and tell him to beat up his enemies, he'll do it without a second thought. Give a kid a book and tell him to defeat his opponent, and he'll read the book, defeat the other's mind, and smack him on top of the head. Give a kid a flower, he'll force his opponent to eat it.

And another Marathon of War Thunder has passed its course.

I should probably get back to further testing for the campaign list now.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Though I'm not playing it, I want to be playing Screencheat.  Remember the days of Goldeneye 64, when you'd play split-screen and annoy the hell out of your siblings/friends by looking at their screens to figure out exactly where they are?  Someone took that concept and made a whole game out of it.  Everyone's invisible, and you see everyone's screens at once, so the only way to kill them is to screencheat!  The gameplay videos are what really do it justice; it looks like a total blast.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Just finished Kairo and QUBE after a fun little puzzle game spree brought on by the Steam summer sale.

Kairo: Very fascinating abstract mystery/puzzle game, I had a blast trying to come up with a plausible explanation for the whole game and then finding out at the end that my speculation was off by a mile because I overlooked one piece of the puzzle that was pretty glaringly obvious in hindsight (warning, this game is extremely spoiler sensitive, avoid spoilers like the plague). Gameplay was just there for immersion; you walk around and trigger things, that's it. Overall: Great environmental narrative, superb atmosphere, a challenge for your imagination but not you reflexes. Worth a look if you're into that kinda thing.

QUBE: Harder than Kairo and a lot less abstract, has a much tighter narrative that centers around one main question: which of two voices to trust? The philosophical aspect of the plot is obvious without being preaching, and the puzzles are on par with Portal. (in fact the narrative actually seems to take advantage of the fact that most QUBE players know Portal... play it and you'll see what I mean.) Overall: Challenging puzzles, exciting, tense mood and skillful writing. Recommended if you like puzzle games.
Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move." - Captain America

Started playing Arkham City today. I'm a little put off by how heavily sexualised Catwoman is, but the game itself is quite fun.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something

Replaying Psychonauts. The maps and environments in this game are amazing, probably unlike any other game out there.

Also some FS2 campaigns. I'm trying to play Ancient-Shivan War but can't get it to work, probably some build or media VP problem.

My favorite is the Waterloo level. Seeing the wargame with Napoleon in Fred's mind was great, but climbing into the board and becoming part of the game blew my mind when I first played it.

Playing the Dishonored DLC now.  Dunwall City Trials is an interesting change of pace, but some of these are bloody HARD.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Would probably be better to play the original first, but I couldn't get sound to work. Why can't Steam only sell working games, like it used to?

just because it doesn't work on your PC doesn't mean it's broken, Supreme Commander's audio works completely fine on my end.
[22:29] <sigtau> Hello, #hard-light?  I'm trying to tell a girl she looks really good for someone who doesn't exercise.  How do I word that non-offensively?
