Title: Weird issue since installing Knossos
Post by: TrashMan on September 30, 2018, 09:53:08 am
Ever since I installed Knosses several things happened:

1) all my pilots are gone. No biggie.

2) Trying to run a debug build from it results in an error window hat cannot be closed. I get an error
Code: [Select]
Warning: Unrecognized flag in flag list for weapon PDS-Defender: "bigship"
File: weapons.cpp
Line: 633

And no matter if I click continue, debug or exit, I can't. I have to kill the process.
And what even weirder is that the table entry looks fine to me

Code: [Select]
$Flags: ( "Big Ship" "Bomber+" )

3) Trying to debug trough the old 5.5g launcher doesn't work anymore. The mod - ANY MOD - simply isn't loaded, only retail FS2. I'm at a loss how to debug now.

Post the debug log.

1 and 3 should be solvable by using a nightly build or by using wxLauncher.

Where can I find the debug log?

Also, it would be swell if you could select forlder to store stuff (like Screenshots), instead of it going into your AppData. I hate placing stuff there.

I am using a nightly build and I have the wx launcher. I can select a mod, bu it's not loaded when FS starts. The only campaign ever offered is retail FS2 and there's no new stuff in the techroom.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

I also keep getting errors on mod installations.

Usually when I verify integrity i wars that it has to re-downlaod files, since packages are invalid. Then it fails again. For Visagos Dirge, it does that a dozen times. Can't seem to get working files.
The last stand for example downlaods normally. And then it crashes when I go to the ready room.

Only 2 campaigns work so far.

fred2_open_3_8_0_x64_AVX-FASTDBG.exe!

3.8.0 is definitely not a nightly build, it's over a year old now.

Slow down. You posted multiple times with new errors before you finally posted a log. Let's work one problem at a time because you seem to have a pile up of problems going on.

First. Use a nightly for real. Second. You game settings tbl is written incorrectly. Check it against the wiki for spelling or order of flags errors.

Once you've done both of those, post a new debug log.

I doubt the game_settings.tbl is the problem. $Target Version was added after 3.8.0 which is why that build doesn't recognize that token.

EDIT:

What do you mean? The upload log option should be in the dropdown (see the screenshots linked in the debug log instructions). Just make sure you're on the Home tab and not the Explore tab.

You game settings tbl is written incorrectly.

my mod doesn't have that table.

I'ts the only build I can select form the list.
And when my AV deleted the exe I got the latest nighly (nightly_20180930_94df277-builds-Win64.zip)

Go to Knossos' settings screen (the little cog icon in the upper-right corner), open the Knossos section, select Nightlies as your preferred stability and save. Go to the home tab and update FSO if an update is available. Now you should be able to select nightlies.

HM...there's still weird bugs and errors..

Like reporting that"Big Ship" is a invalid flag... that it cannot find D weapon variants (even tough here isn't any in my weapons.tbl or ships.tbl...)

I think I'm going to trash EVERYTHING and start from scratch, because half the campaigns sill don't download properly
