I've corrupted my install. Cannot launch FS, cannot upgrade Knossos
Quartz:
I've not played FS in quite a few months so was looking to return to the fray. However, I've somehow managed to corrupt my installation. I think part of the problem may be that I am on Knossos v0.14.3 but I cannot upgrade: the installer runs but quits silently.
If I go into Knossos I have the retail FS2 visible (1.20.0) but plain Freespace Open is not available
I was getting messages about not being able to run Fred from the root directory but those seem to have disappeared, as have messages about needing to configure FS.
I suppose I could just nuke it all and restart. Or am I suffering a middle-age moment and missing the obvious?
Windows 11 24H2 fully upgraded. RTX 4090 Nvidia drivers 566.36.

Classic Knossos is now outdated. We highly recommend folks switch to using KNet (KnossosNET). It is a highly improved launcher, that fixes the bugs and issues of classic Knossos. This includes orders of magnitude faster loading, better joystick setting, easier option handling, smaller file size, and much more 🙂
It also uses the same library folder structure as classic Knossos, so no need to redownload your currently installed mods!
Get KNet for PC, Linux, and MAC here:

Backup link if above does not work:

Well yes, but it won't install! The installer just quits on me. Nothing in the Event Logs, BTW.
wookieejedi:
Gotcha. Just to confirm, when you say `the installer runs but quits silently` you mean the KnossosNET installer runs silently but quits? (The old installer for Classic Knossos is of course different than the new installer for the new KnossosNET).
In any case, I would advise going into `App Data` folder and go into both the `Local` and `Roaming` folders and manually deleting any folders that have "Knossos" or "KNet" in the name. Also, KnossosNET has a single exe you can download instead of an installer if that might be useful? :)
Quartz:
File is Knossos.Net-1.2.4-x64.exe
Right-click, Run As Administrator.
I get a 'Windows protected your PC' window. I click 'More Info' then 'Run anyway'. The UAC prompt appears, I click Yes, and that's it.
I've also tried 1.2.3.
