Ship Direction all Topsy-Turby in WIH-Tenebra
Trivial Psychic:
So I've recently decided to do a replay of all of the main Blue Planet campaigns, and I just began a playthrough of Tenebra. Unfortunately, when I enter the Dreamscape for the first time, my direction of travel is all wrong. It is as if the system has moved my eyepoint 90 degrees into the vertical, and I think also 90 degrees to the right. As a result, I can't look where I'm going, nor can I properly target anything. I thought that perhaps it was my control inputs that were all mixed up, but resetting them made no difference. I switched back to prime WIH campaign and replayed a mission through the techroom, and it all played normally. I tried creating a new pilot, but I had the same result. I haven't tried going beyond Dreamscape to see if its just that one environment.
Any ideas?
[Edit]
Just a bit more details, I'm using the latest Knightly build and have overridden the mod settings to use the latest MVP release as well as the latest build of Mjn's Mainhalls.
Goober5000:
Nothing comes to mind. Can you try previous versions of BP to see if something changed?
Trivial Psychic:
Tried to restore all overrides to default except the engine build - same result. Tried to play under mod-default engine build - no input because all of my pilots are now compatible with new builds and couldn't go back. In fact, none of the 'classic' builds detected my joystick at all. Even wouldn't detect my stick when I tried to make a new pilot under Mod Default engine build. Tried to go back to 3.3.2 under new engine build - same result.
Goober5000:
Well for the purposes of testing, you can create a new pilot or play without a joystick.
Trivial Psychic:
I've got a significant update for you. On a whim, I tried it on the latest release build, and it worked properly. Now it was time for my digital hording tendencies to shine through, as I still possess the knightly builds from that far back on my drive. After trial and error, I've narrowed it down to the knightly where things don't work properly in this mission... February 23rd. A quick check of the post for this build reveals a few changes regarding eyepoints. I'd bet that's the source of the problem.
[Edit]
So a bit of an oddity. Under the Feb 22nd build, although the eyepoint was properly situated, I couldn't fire my primary guns for some reason. It turned out that it wasn't assigned to a button for some reason, but the odd thing is that when I tried to bind it, it wouldn't recognize any button pressing. In game, every assigned button worked, but the control config menu wouldn't register when I pressed a button. Restarting with a newer build allowed me to assign it, but I still got the same wrong-viewpoint issue, so I had to switch back to Feb22 to play.
[Edit2]
Got it! I'm not sure about the issue I just mentioned with button assignment, but I figured out what the problem with the eyepoint in newer builds is, and it's a problem with BP. The Ainsarii fighter that you're flying pretty much exclusively in Tenebra, although it has an eyepoint, it doesn't have a normal assigned to it. I gave it one and then reloaded the game under a new Knightly, and the problem was rectified. I guess that the change in the Feb23 build no longer took 'look forward' as a given.
