Yes, the Evangelist does have a flight deck, comes in handy, trust me.  If ever you're in a nasty dogfight, just fly into her hanger on one side and out the other and the ai will always get stuck somewhere in between ;)

I like them all heres my thoughts

The Eac Evangilist is like a massive base of operations That is just loaded with ships

The Eac Avalonian Like someone else said is like a Planetary drop ship or a cargo ship or just a ship loaded with marines.  It should fly with the Evangilist

CCCa Andropov looks like a Small assult ship or maybe even an intel/research ship LOaded up with armor and flak cannons!

And Finally the

CCD Kiev Looks like a Major frontal assult ship Thats loaded with armor and weapons that would be a deadly thing to take on!

Thats my 2 cents on things, I hope it hels :)

Oh and if your are looking for people to help out with the mod i'd be glad to help that is of course if you are looking for people.  I have some experience in modding, and I know what I'm doing!
Pm me sometime or somthin.

The primary role of the Evangelist is, as you guesed, to provide frontline fire support and a fighter launching platform.  Each such vessel carries a complement of 12 fighters and their support crews.  The Avalonian on the other hand, is not a dropship and is actually a heavy cruiser, more massive than the Evangelist and carrying far more guns and fighters.

The Andropov mirrors the Evangelist as a frontline carrier but is somewhat smaller and less heavily armed, its speed makes it a well rounded ship.  The Kiev is all about firepower, each can carry up to 6 squadrons (not a pretty sight when they deploy, not if you're on the opposite side).  In addition, Kievs have the heaviest weaponry in the mod and quite a bit of armor for defense.
