Title: Wii fit
Post by: jdjtcagle on May 22, 2008, 08:25:15 am
I just got it and it's pretty fun.

I think they have a successful product.  Especially for people who can't/don't want to go to the gym.
Man I'm sore...

The WII FIt is pretty fun, I don't like the Jogging, but hula-hoops, heading the balls and doging the trainers are fun.

But my highlight so far is setting the female Yoga trainer, and making her face away from me for the warmups  ;7

It's been a while :nervous:

It's actually a little more than that.  You see I'm 19 have quite a bit of responsiblity, work, college (even through the summer), getting married.

I don't have alot of time to watch TV (assumption 1)
When I get the time I will watch recorded BSG and that is the only thing on TV I ever get to watch.

Me and Melissa love to go out and walk (when I have time), we both aren't overweight and exercise for health.
This is a great way to spend some time (together, even with my family, which are at the age where you don't see enough of them) while getting a little enthused about getting healthier. (which this software does)

I'm a family kind of guy and anything to bring a family that is falling apart, for whatever reason, together is a huge accomplishment.  (Wii fit or just the Wii is great to have fun when life gets too busy to be a harcore gamer.)

The truth is, becoming a casual gamer kinda lets me see more of the world for myself other than just behind the computer screen.

Well, I love the Wii Sports workout routine and the Big Brain Academy mental fitness test, but with a full-time job and over an hour's commute each way I'm lucky if I get to play at all during the week.

And on weekends, I tend to play games I like, or do FS modding.

If anybody cares about reviews:

Sounds like a load of crap to me, from that.

To me the Wii was like a commercially sold sex toy. I have no idea why. I just get that impression.

Even with Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Haha I didn't consider that until now but it does seem to be the case, doesn't it.

I gained 0.9 pounds this time in about 50 min. I'm hoping that's muscle cause I'm sore. :(

I see, I'd rather not, given the choice...

It is interesting though, worked up a mild sweat trying it out this morning. Might make a nice compliment to my fencing, which to date has been my only other form of excercise.

I'm really more interested in the potential for the peripheral when, for example, the next Tony Hawk game comes out for Wii ?

We Ski supposedly has excellent controls using the board.

Ski would be fun using the remote and nunchuck. But skateboarding i can't see working due to not being able to kick off on the ground properly, you'd end up flying forward into your telly.

i just don't see the wii as a fun system. yet
once the graphics improve it will be exeptional but the first thing i look for in a game is good graphics and the wii lacks that royaly.

Gameplay > Graphics. . . .look at smash brothers.

:wtf:
I don't get it. Look at super smash brothers, for one example.. The graphics are gorgeous really, and the low resolution (480P or 480i) is barely ever noticeable.

true but the systems graphics are nowhere near the ps3 or even a well equiped computer. i see where people come from on the wii but i personally wouldn't get one. plus the games are so damn expensive. and i'm a sim guy which dosn't go well with the wii

The game lineup doesn't fit with a action/sim type of interest but the Wii's graphics are more than capable for what it needs to do.  It definitely flies in the face of the trend to make everything look super detailed.  Wii proves that gameplay is just as important or even more important than the graphics.  I have a 360 and that fits what sort of games I want to play on a console (not to mention its superb media capabilities which I love) but some of my friends have a Wii and its the single best party/group console ever.  The slightly less capable graphics are still more than good enough.

More than. Twilight princess and Metroid prime 3 are great examples of what it can do. For less than two hundred quid i think it's value for money over the ps3 costing silly money. I'd only buy one for Metal Gear 4 anyway :p

I agree, the games and their gameplay.  The only problem is I can't name many good games for Wii that nintendo didn't make.  I also love the VC

You said 200 quid, he said 200 dollars. Those do not equal one another ;)

And I managed that myself this afternoon after fencing :)

Sorry Inquisitor:) i got the meaning but i'm coding illiterate. B@ on thread topic, a very good friend of mine says the Wii Fit is a waste of  cash but i think it supplements a good exercise routine as a bit of fun :)

I don't think its a waste of money if you take it seriously.

Its an interactive excercise video, and Jane Fonda has been selling those for 30 years to some effect ;)

This one just has some way to measure progress and feedback :)

I agree it's good fun and the target attainment is plausible in theory. But the exercises alone won't get ya fit. You need to get outside and do it properly. It's handy in tandem with a proper routine and i didn't agree with my mates statement. He's just jealous cos the "wife" won't let him buy anything like fun. Which is why i'll be having a boys night in when i buy Smash Bros brawl.

I totally agree. I use it to track strecthing via yoga and general warm ups before doing things like this:

It also gives me something to do on days when not doing that ;)

I have little interest in gyms :)
