I want to offer you that I can translate the game into :

- German

As I'm living in Germany since im born and my German is almostly perfect. I would realy love to translate this game and it would give you a wider spectrum of Users.

As example you could Name this patch as followed :

I hope you liked this idea and hopefully you can give me some Feedback about this :)

We'd love to have the game translated into German (and other languages). In fact some of the work is already done because FS2 supported German. In order to make German work properly, all that is really needed is to translate these two files. If you look at the first one (strings.tbl), you'll see that there is already a section called #German. All you really need to do is make sure that it matches the #English section. There are probably some minor mistakes because I don't think it's been updated from the FS2 terminology.

The second file is the real meat of the translation. The whole file needs to be translated.

Once we have both of those translated, we'd need to do some serious testing as there have been a few reports of people having issues when using Diaspora after having played FS2 in German (both games share the same registry settings). Once that was done and we were sure it worked, we'd be happy to roll them into the next patch for Diaspora.

EDIT : BTW that goes for any other languages people want supported. There's already a halfway done Spanish translation in those files too.

Okay, I fixed a couple of bugs and it should work now. If you actually want to run the game in German, you'll need to place the three files I'm uploading in your data/tables folder (Remember to delete them when we release the patch).

You'll then need to edit your registry, I'll talk you through that on IRC instead.

I think I must have misunderstood you earlier. I thought you were offering to help translate the game. As I've shown on this thread, translating the game is pretty simple. Translate the files I posted above into the language requested and then I'll make sure the game works in that language.

tell please which files it is necessary to translate? (how I understood it is necessary to open in a text editor and it is simple to translate the text? )

In the 2nd post on this thread (my first) there are two files called strings.tbl and tstrings.tbl. Simply translate the English into Russian and post them. Then I'll see about making that actually work in Diaspora.

Well,

Karajorma I'm sorry that I was offline some weeks, I were in Holidays in Turkey and now I'm back, do you still need the translated files ?
Stats :
first file : 100 %
second : 45 % ~

John

Absolutely. In fact, since my last post I've coded in the changes needed to make them work. All we'd probably need is some work on the fonts.

Keep working with yours for now. Any files I altered are about a thousand km away from my current position. I can easily add any changes in at a later point.

That would be great. The more languages the better as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know of anyone working on a translation. Polish would be one of the easiest languages to support since FS2 already supports it.
