Title: OGG Cutscenes show green screen?
Post by: -Norbert- on April 28, 2010, 02:33:44 pm
I just tried to get the released cutscenes into my FS_Port, but they don't seem to want to.
In external players it works, but ingame I get only a green screen, though the sound plays fine.
I tried all the 1080 versions and the 720 version of ancients 1.
Yes I do not have scale to window enables (though I tried that, which gave me a green square surrounded by black, instead of a complete greenscreen) and yes I am using a 3.6.12 build (RC2 inf to be exact).
I even tried disabling post processing in case it's somehow interfering, but that didn't change anything either.

When I tried to play it while using the 3.6.12 RC2 Inf debug build instead of a completely green screen, I got green and violet dots dancing all over the screen and a crash a few seconds later. In case it helps, I here's my logfile.

Just in case I tried downloading ancients one 720 both from media fire and the other mirror, but both times the same outcome.

Hmmm, thats exactly the issue I encountered when I first tried and it was patched in 3.6.12... it's beyond my ability to help.

Where's The E when we need him? (Look a log file! )

Norbert, what players are you using outside FS?
Also, what codecs/codec packs do you have installed, and if you have the standard cccp+avcore+divx did you set up the ogg related stuff yourself or did you let it do it by default?

That won't make a difference, as FSO comes with statically linked versions of libogg and libtheora.

I don't have much else to add... I checked and rechecked all the files and the play fine in-game.

Just make sure you're playing with 3.6.12 RC2 (or later.) The link should still be on the front page.

In addition to playing with RC2 (and on Windows; the Mac build still has a bug); your log isn't long enough to show the attempted cutscene load.

That's odd...
Because I uploaded the log right after the game crashed about three seconds into playing the cutscene.
Does it matter that I played the movie from the techroom (using Ctrl+Shift+S)?

I'll try playing the campaign till it playes between missions later in the week and see if that produces a different log file, but today I don't have the time.

Or try just renaming it to intro.ogg and restarting the game.

Well looks like you have some tables where they shouldn't be and at least one has problems.  I'd clean that up just to be sure but I doubt that's the cause.

I now deleted those two tbm files (something about muzzleflashes in one and lasers in the 2nd), but the log still complains about an invalid weapons.tbl file (among other things)....
Anyway I did as Goober5000 suggested to get to the crash faster, but as far as I can tell the log still doesn't show the cutscene being loaded.

Hmm.  This might be the sort of thing you'd need to trace through with a debugger.

I've been experiencing this issues as well through Diaspora. Mantis 2383 (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=2383) is tracking progress.
