Hello FreeSpace fans!

I've been speaking with some members of the community who are understandably eager to see more FreeSpace content, and honestly I'm raring to jump back into the cockpit again as well. As such, I've been giving some thought to the format of my stream schedule, and I'd like to run it by everyone and get your input! I want to give you all the content you want to see, as well as doing what I'll enjoy and what will hopefully, by consequence, create an atmosphere that you all enjoy. Currently, I am thinking of, following Final Fantasy 7, doing 2 FreeSpace mods back-to-back, then playing another game in my list of games I'd like to stream. After that, another 2 FreeSpace mods, and so on.

Your thoughts? Suggestions on a different format? Personally, I like to finish what I started when it comes to games, so while I had thought of and anticipate suggestions of doing rotating games on stream (Week 1, FF7, Week 2, FreeSpace, etc), I'm a bit averse to this format as it can be easy to lose track of what progress I've made on each game, and also potentially make it hard for the audience to follow.

P.S.:  As for your question on how to do streams...I think you should stick with a mod/game until it's finished before moving on to something else.  IOW, I like your first choice better than the latter option presented.

It sounds like a good plan although I'd obviously prefer to keep FreeSpace mods heavier in the rotation.

I will suggest that because the following mods all go together...

• Sync
• Transcend
• Deus Ex Machina
• Deus Ex Machina: Interlude
• Just Another Day

... that it would make sense to do them in one contiguous streaming block.  Similarly, the Cold Element campaigns should go together in one block, the Inferno campaigns should go together, and so on.

I will definitely do more impromptu or even scheduled emulation streams. I just need to finagle my current stream frames for SNES aspect ratio (I do internal resolution multiplied, because stretching is heresy, and NES is 16:15 while SNES is like 8:7). Or maybe I'll be lazy and just put an 8 * X pixel buffer on top and bottom.

EDIT: Tried that lazy suggestion, triggered my OCD, made a whole separate scene in Streamlabs just for SNES. ****.

Not much for RTS, but I can be swayed if a game is good enough to break my genre aversion.

Nexus is ... a very acquired taste

Don't get me wrong - when the gameplay is on point, its very cool to look and one of the best imagined version of what 3D capital ship combat should be.

But the english VO performance is strikingly average, the story characters are ... not well written,  the enemy NPCs are worse. The story itself is ... a strange mashup.

And then there is the stealth missions ... when I tried to replay it a few years ago, I couldn't rellay figure out how I beat some of them when the game was new. They are just poorly designed and highlight all reasons game designers have failed to make good 3d space rts games for years.

Near the beginning of your recent YT video you said the next block of FS campaigns you'd be doing was:  Sync, Transcend, Deus Ex Machina, DEM:  Interlude, and Just Another Day.

So I can keep Herkie informed and out of curiosity, where does Aftermath II: The Blue Guardian now sit in the order of things (in the thread OP list TBG is next but you didn't mention it in the video from what I heard)?


There's no rush so no pressure or anything and I'm not trying to be demanding, I'm just wondering.

Aftermath: Reboot was 68 missions (including cutscenes)

Aftermath II:  The Blue Guardian is 38 missions (also including cutscenes)


So while Aftermath II (aka TBG) is certainly not a short campaign, it's noticeably less than Reboot (not trying to put pressure on you to do it now though if you'd like to do it as its own 'block' later on).
