Framebuffer Shockwaves

What does enable framebuffer shockwaves do? 
I see it under the experimental section of the features in the launcher, but can't find anything that tells me what this does.
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets
An optimist sees the glass half full; the pessimist sees it half empty. An engineer sees that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

The thrusters in the latest builds have the distortion effect, and what this does is add that distortion also to explosions.

Take a closer look at shockwaves. Then you shall see it.
"Ka-BOOOOOOOOM!!!!"
"Uh, Sir we can hear the explosion."
"No you can't, there is no air in space. Sound can't travel through a vacuum!"
