A great campaign so far...

this shows up when the 3rd mission begins loading -- looks like something is worng with the mission file

A campaign with voice acting is 3.4 MB? Are you pulling our legs? :P

It's always great to see you guys churning out releases for FSPort. Now finish the voice acting on ST:R! *cracks whip*

Just put this attached mission file into the folder [...]/fsport/data/missions (create it if it does not exsist)

I don't get the ending... What happened? :blah:

All I get is that the Shivans are on their way to Sol... But was there any consequence to the stuff that happened at Tango?
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Admiral Nelson on September 02, 2007, 08:32:13 am
Revised package posted in the first post.  It seem VPMage cut off the end of the file -- that is extremely strange.

As for the ending:

Spoiler:
The idea is that the final mission is the one which alerted Terran Command that the Lucifer was en route to Sol -- thus setting up the series of missions in the main FS1 campaign about its pursuit and destruction.

I start the campaign, and I cannot select a different ship or weapons. I start with absolutely no weaponry. How am I supposed to cover my winglead?

edit:

I used the age old mantra of "RAM IT UNTIL IT DIES" and I got through all of the fighting. Being able to recruit nav buoys sure helps....  And I set it at x64 and waited for five minutes and all beta 1 did was run around in circles for that entire time. Mission has no ending....

Works for me. You messed up. Not them. Check your installation, this is an FSPort campaign (obviously), so make sure that's selected as a secondary mod.

I *had* to blow him up.  Twice.  I think when I get back home I'm going to do it again a few times.

Just to settle my thoughts, this was original voice acting from '98, right?
I hope, so I won't feel so bad about wanting to punch innocent puppies in the face because of it... boo : (
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango

The voice acting wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad either IMO.

Yes, the voice acting is original.  I found it amusing, myself... :)

Guys,

I tried to install Tango, end result, I have no weapons in all Campaigns.

Both Tango and Cardinal Spear don't have any weapons now. I tried launching both mods from FS2 and the fsport and still, no weapons are available.

I am sort of panicking ...
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Trasher258 on September 17, 2007, 07:59:09 pm
Me too. No weapons! AHH!!!  :shaking:
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Admiral Nelson on September 21, 2007, 06:12:54 pm
Well this campaign isn't itself a mod.  It makes no changes to ships or weapons.  Just drop it in your FSPort folder and it should be good to go.  Some of these messages imply that Cardinal Spear is installed in the same folder as the Port.  Cardinal Spear is indeed its own mod which must be placed into a separate folder.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: rbxplayer on September 23, 2007, 06:03:27 pm
 :)

You're the man!

Thanks. I took note of it. Sorry guys but remember that there are newbies. :)

Great storyline
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Objekt on November 16, 2007, 02:19:53 pm
Where did you get that incredibly detailed Valkyrie model?  I just see the standard dark-canopy model.   I'm pretty sure I downloaded the files including that model at one time, but I'm not sure where to put them so they'll work in all mods (FSport, Cardinal Spear et al).
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Jeff Vader on November 16, 2007, 02:23:16 pm
Generally it is good to put extra models to both the 'mediavps' and the 'fsport' folders to make sure that they get used regardless of the mod you're playing. At least that's how it seems to be. I, for example, didn't get the HTL Apollo working in FSPort before I copied the model vp to my fsport folder.

eek  :wtf:

i´m asking for months now after a HTL valk and here is one!?!?! WHO HAS THIS HTL-VALK ON HARDDISK?!?!?! please guys....i could really need it for my cutscene.....
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Objekt on January 14, 2008, 08:22:15 am
It's in the Inferno: Alliance mod, I believe.  I'll have to check it out later today.

There are many files involved, but if the collection not too big zipped, I could perhaps attach it to a post here.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Cobra on January 14, 2008, 10:47:51 am
it's not really an HTL Valkyrie, it just has a cockpit and better textures.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Admiral Nelson on January 14, 2008, 10:55:56 am
Your fellow cutscene maker has a WIP HTL Valk, you may want to PM him about progress.  If you want the cockpitted Valk, I can post it here.  It is as Cobra says, the low poly model with a cockpit added.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: IceyJones on January 14, 2008, 02:37:19 pm
the version with a cockpit would be a big improovement already.....i fear VA´s htl-valk still needs a lot of work......

so if it would be possible to post it here, thank you a lot in advance

This campaign doesn't seem to work on 3.1.

The mission runs, but both fighters are Ulysses instead of Valkyries and no weapons (primary or secondary) are present.

I've tried running the campaign in its own folder and in the FSPort folder. No difference.

Forgive me if I broke any forum rules in bumping this; I was under the impression that "Release" threads can be necroed if the post is about the release in question.

Bumping for a genuine cause is alright. Bumping for the sake of bumping is not cool.

Now, the usual stuff: run a debug build and post your fs2_open.log.

No difference. Might be the campaign's just old and incompatible.

This is totally amazing.  I am the creator of this mini campaign.  I am speechless that people remember it so fondly and are still playing and working on it.  If there is work that could still be done to bring it up to the current FSO standards, I would like to help.  Please point me in the right direction.

Thank you all for remembering this little bit of work, and keeping Freespace alive!

I'm having a lot of technical problems with this game.

What should the mod.ini file say?  The freespacemods download doesn't come with one.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Yarn on August 17, 2014, 10:36:07 pm
Assuming you're using the MediaVPs, it should at least say this:
Code: [Select]
[multimod]
secondarylist = fsport-mediavps,fsport,mediavps_3612;

If you're using the 2014 MediaVPs (and using them with the current version of FSPort requires the unofficial patch (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=86514.0)), change "mediavps_3612" to "MediaVPs_2014".
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: CT27 on August 17, 2014, 11:04:19 pm
I'm able to start it up now.

However, there's another problem:  it starts both my wingman and I in Ulysses and with no primary or secondary weapons.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Tango
Post by: Yarn on August 17, 2014, 11:34:53 pm
Sounds like corrupted campaign save data. Go to data\players and delete [your pilot name].tango.csg. That should fix your problem.

I deleted my save file and created a new name and now I got a Valk with primaries and secondaries.

Here you go. It's a small campaign, so I can fit it in attachments for you. :)

EDIT: I have the campaign, but I've never played it. It didn't actually have a mod.ini file. I've put one in. That's the third attachment, put it in the Tango folder.

Is it just me or is the third mission impossible?

Spoiler:
You're leading the reinforcement wing, and Command aborts the mission and orders you to return to base as soon as Beta 1 is down.  Unfortunately this happens immediately, as he's swarmed in Dragons when you jump in.  I can't work out how to save him; I'm barely in missile range of Arjuna wing when he goes down.
