Freespace 2 open on STEAM?
Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. I recently bought a copy of Freespace and Freespace 2 on Steam, because i loved those games when i was younger and I still do. I started searching for something to up the standard video resolution when i came across the FreespaceOpen project, and i was quite excited.

I immediately downloaded it and started installing it, however several of the extra campaigns and such could not be installed and i didn't know why until i had a look in the FAQ's on this site.

I'm just wondering, is this a known problem and are there plans in the works for dealing with it? I have a custom setup for my Steam game folders and they are always installed on a dedicated hard drive, for example F:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Freespace 2

I'm trying a little experiment, transferring my current Freespace 2 installation to the appropriate folder on my C:/ drive and I'm going to test and see if the extra missions install or not just as soon as i have tested if the program will load from the new location.

I'll let you all know how things go with my test in a few minutes.

Orion.

  • This is fine.
Re: Freespace 2 open on STEAM?
Well, I suppose the easiest alternative is to manually install FSO and all the mods you want to use. It may not sound convenient but it isn't very hard.
If the opposite of pro is con, then is the opposite of progress Congress?

Re: Freespace 2 open on STEAM?
Thisisaverylongusername is correct - unfortunately we're having some problems with the FSO-Installer mirrors at the moment which is the cause of all your errors :(
