So, as a side effect of the announced unexpected downtime that was either caused by or not helped by the database corruption, the restoration and upgrade process apparently aet some post content.

If you find such a post, link to it here and we'll follow up with getting it restored.

(Admins: If you could be so kind if you handle one to edit the report post to strike it through to prevent duplication for no reason, that would be great!)

I would have to pull a copy of the DB just like you would.  I would say your best bet would be to ssh in and get a dump via mysqldump then scp it to your local machine.  No matter how you slice it, it's 'prolly going to lag things a bit, but mysqldump should be the least impacting.

Your guess is as good as mine on that one, being that the community is international, therefore 24/7

rsync --bwlimit=512 -avP? (or scp -l if pscp.exe or similar support it)

Those are some of the tricks I use when I need to pull large amounts of data from a "sensitive" server... although obviously it can take ages to complete.
