News at Kotaku...

-
$30 Expansion pack for every ship.
-
Knowing EA they will royally screw over this acquired franchise too.
-
Could have been worse... it might have been Activision.
Wing Commander Prestige Edition, $350
"Includes limited edition rudder."
-
EA picked up the Wing Commander trademark
My response (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s&NR=1).
-
Guys you realise that EA owns this since 1992?
Haveing an active trademark means only that they have exclusive rights to sell stuff that is labeled Wing Commander.
As no one else is allowed to make a WC game this isn't much of a differance as to how it has been since '92.

Want to fire Missiles that will be €15 more.
Able to play the final level in the game €10 more.
-
Or just like the EA titles of Command And Conquer, royally bugged to hell with zero developer support into patching it.
Either way, if it's a PC title it'll still be better than Arena.

Chance to play a good Wing Commander game? Priceless.
No, literally (http://wcsaga.hard-light.net/).

To be fair to EA, they were reasonably good about C&C3. Kane's Wrath, not so much.
-
Yet they still refuse to even give an estimated time of release for TW 1.10 since...last year I looked at their board.
All they do is run their Gulper Eel-esque mouthes about "OH WE'RE GOING TO WORK ON THIS NEW PATCH!" then go off to either doing absolutely nothing or releasing RA3's umpteenth patch.
-
At least they're supporting RA3, instead of not patching it. They could be sitting on their asses not releasing any patches.
-
Actually what they should be doing is patching KW because it's only on its second patch and plenty of the community has listed gamebreaking bugs that are still present.
And people still play TW and KW and NOT JUST RA3.
-
I know people still play TW and KW. I still do. I don't play RA3 due to its horrible DRM scheme. Its just EA patching one game is better than them patching no games, wouldn't you agree? Or would you rather all of EA's games, including RA3, have gamebreaking bugs?
-
Sure it's better than nothing at all, but it's still horrible distribution of support, since there is no distribution.
-
Agreed. EA need to get off their asses and start patching their games.
-
They do patch their games, you just have to patch up their profit margins in return.
-
Bull****. Patch TW and KW and then I'll consider doing so.
-
I don't see anything major that needs to be changed in TW. The game is generally very stable and balanced at this point.
Now KW is an entirely different story. The original version had huge bugs and balance issues, many of which were not in TW, and the two patches so far have created more problems than they have fixed.
-
It was the exact same thing with The battle for middle earth, they announced the expansion and stopped patching the original. Seems like they do this sort of thing with all their franchises. Although I have to admit, what pissed me off the most about their attitude towards patching the original after the expansion was released was, buy the expansion, it'll make everything right. BULL****!

By no means do i think they're relaunching it, it's probably just to do with that whole xbox live game. Although were they to relaunch it, i'd be curious as to how the EA logo would look at the start. Maybe turn into a confed star or something..
-
If it does have anything to do with Arena the CEO of that company is ****ing dead. :P

Of all the things you could have asked :p
-
EA Games, Challenge everything. . . . . Pathetic descendant of monkies.
-
Probably another dumb Arena 2. or 3 or 4 or 5.....
-

That's one thing they do marvelously
I kind of liked the dead space one
-
Someone needs to make a Duke Nukem game where your mission is to blow up EA headquarters to save the world of gaming.
-
EA Games, Challenge everything. . . . . Pathetic descendant of monkies.
including your tolerance of watered down sequels using the minimum of development time expected to sell big because it has the in title
-
Ahh, Harry Potter and the generic collwection of side-quests VI

Lies!!!! EA would never, ever, ever do anything like that :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: lol
Hmm let me see: Best example could be 'The Sims/ Sims 2' Can anyone think of a better one?

Supporting C&C:RA3 is like trying to hide the smell of a turd by putting glitter on it. RA3 sucked.
I really hope they go down the right path with C&C4. I have mixed feelings about the RTS/RPG hybrid they seem to want to make.
-
EA have been doing a lot to clean up their past mistakes. Their current CEO is a class act and Dead Space is proof they've become capable of good. I'm not concerned about this.

when thought about RTS/RPG cross nicely e.g. Warcraft 3 even tib sun has a small degree of it
-
True, WC3 was good, but that wasn't EA. And RA3 is considerably more recent than Dead Space, though I do agree. Wasn't that developed by an outside house only published through EA though?
All the IPs that EA fudged up were actually owned by it. Westwood (C&C) is now EALA, Maxis (The Sims, Spore) is now EA's Sims division, etc.
-

I don't think so. Dead Space was made by EA Redwood Shores. It was recently renamed Visceral Games, but it's still an internal studio.
-
A sister company
I would love to watch people play Dead Space Extraction for the Wii. Looks rather interesting
