Whats your favorite Wing Commander game?

the only one i played in full was privateer 2. i want to go back and play them all, but getting most of them to run on xp is damn near impossible.

I like 3 the best.
Probably biased due to it being the one I played most as a kid.

If I had to pick one it'd be Prophecy with Secret Ops running close second.

This is largely due to the graphics though. Wing Commander never did much for me in terms of gameplay, it seemed somewhat basic.

I quite liked 1 and 2, at the time they were incredibly advanced, but keeping Maniac alive in 2 was an utter nightmare.

2's expansions, because I actually completed them. The Bloodfang and I kept stalemating in the main run. I want to know what genius gave me two IFFs and all those torps on my Sabre. Give me four torps and four IFFs and I would have him cold in the first pass, but noooo...

The same thing kept happening to me with Flash in WC3. We'd stalemate. I couldn't kill him, he couldn't kill me.

My copy of The Kilrathi Saga for some reason would never let me save in 1 so I never got very far.

Wing Commander II

The atmosphere and ship design were what really grabbed at me.

I've only played one WC game, and that was the Wing Commander Prophecy demo. I kind of liked it.

1 and 2 mostly for nostagla...  I greatly dislike Privateer (or at least Privateer Remake). Someone get those fighters antiskid tires PLEASE!

Bombing runs in 2 was hard

Why on Earth would you keep him alive? In the first game I got so pissed off with his constant backchat that I shot him and flew all the missions solo.

I was tempted to do that in 3, but settled for flying with Hobbes or Cobra instead. He wasn't so bad in 2 to my recollection.

It's a tough call. I think I would have to vote for 3, although 2 comes in a very close second.

What I appreciated about 4 is that I actually felt moral dissonance in my dogfights with everyone but pirates and Black Lance because I knew that I was just fighting against pilots who were being manipulated as pawns by larger political forces. That was very well done.

Never played 2. Ironically enough I only ever played the first one (on the Amiga) and the last one (Prophecy + Secret Ops on the PC).

And he was a pain in the arse in the first one. Always going on how he was the best. Eat full guns jerkwad!

Only one I have is the Prophecy port for the Gameboy Advance, and I never really started playing that.  I'd love to get the chance to give them a try, though.
